I recently decided to try and buy some facebook adds for a couple articles of one of my sites, which I am trying to monetize with a mix of adsense and Amazon affiliate links. It's a small site, receiving 50 unique visitors a day and barely generating $5 a month. This campaign multiplied by 20 the number of unique visitors for that day, and the bounce rate fell from some 70% to 20%. It's the first campaign of this sort that I make, but I was relatively happy seeing these numbers, having paid 7 dollars for it.

The thing is I feel something doesn't fit. My adsense earnings have just barely doubled from the usual value during these last two days, and that may be just because I've been promoting a bit more the site this last week. How can a 20x increase in audience, which seem to have navigated more on the website than usual, produce such ridiculous increase in revenue? Is adsense ripping me off? Do the statistics have some delay, and I should see a peak in the following days?

or is Facebook sending fake traffic?

This is worth addressing and researching for your future campaigns. It is no mystery that Facebook lacks trust in their advertising opportunities, there has also been a large and vast amount of coverage/research into it. I would recommend doing some Google searches into it, Facebook can be mischievous at times.

I really believe something weird happened. I just checked in more detail my adsense statistics and the tiny revenue I had seen came from a couple adds on a different website! The adds in the website affected by the campaign didn't see any increase at all, despite a 20x increase in traffic.

Well I won't be using this service again any time soon in the future. It really does look like fake traffic was sent.

i cant post a link yet but go watch a youtube video called "facebook fraud" by channel Veritasium
you might understand why

Yeah its strange but it seems like they send fake or worthless traffic sometimes to the low cpc campaigns.

Facebook is one of the worst big PPC platforms, the traffic is seriously hit or miss and oftentimes pure junk

The aforementioned 'Facebook Fraud' video was eye opening to say the least, will certainly think twice before purchasing likes in the future. I always assumed going down the official route and purchasing likes from Facebook directly would result in quality, not garbage they seemingly provide you instead.
