So I Started a Music Blog

I agree- personally i think such titles scream way more excitement than there actually is- but it works. Especially on social networks. I don't think you should worry about disappointing the readers. If you have like what you do and know your shit- people will like it. Also, Read the social media sections of this forums and you will find a lot of tricks on how to get exposure for your site. Most people use followliker, but i am sure you can find some way to do it for free/lowcost.

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate all the support you have given me.

For 2 months of since publishing the website. I think that's good enough since you are not familiar with SEO and other blogging stuff. There's a big potential of earning a lot from music related websites, just read more stuff online, just keep on learning.

Thanks. The thing is I want to break out of this 200-odd views per day rut. But I guess it will take more time.

You Really inspire me Adam, you doing that very good, just read and watch some courses, And THE MOST IMPORTANT THING : Build a list if you can.

No problem mate. I am doing something in the music niche too. Glad to share the knowledge. Why don't you start a journey thread too? Looking forward to hearing about your success.

Oh thank you for your kind words, sir. Your compliment made my day!

You mean an email list? Like I have placed a subscribe via email button, but I don't think anyone's participating.

Oh that will be nice too. I will consider that. Can you PM me your website? I swear I'm not gonna steal anything. lol

Music blog you saying...don't turn the music too loud, Google will penalais you for this, your site will get sandboxed and Adsense account terminated
Good luck!

WHAT? What does this mean? What do you mean 'music too loud'? Please help!

I have not set up a domain for it yet. Right now i am in the process of getting content and testing the design etc. :) I usually like to have about 20 posts ready in advance before it all goes live. Besides there's noting to steal- our subniches are totally different. What you are doing appeals to a much much bigger audience.

And I hope that appealing to a much bigger audience will give me better results. But I know for a fact that targeted niches perform well. Is that what you are doing?

Of course but that also means that you will be competing with the bog boys. What i am doing is highly niche specific and the only reason I am able to do it is coz of my previous experiences in the music industry- I wouldn't be able to just get up and buy this content from a writing service. Yet, there is some immense competition even at this level.

Also for your site, you should think about selling iTunes and Spotify gift coupons etc. Later I am sure you will also have an opportunity to sell merchandise. Think about your demographic? 15-30 ? what would they like? Whose your fav artist? You go to a site to read an article about them, would you buy that hoodie with their album cover on it that's displayed in the sidbar?

Now this is just a basic example, but I am sure if you sit and brainstorm on it you can find many revenue ideas. Read this.

I fgiured, cuz I read somewhere that music blogging is one of the most popular things.

I have a little issue though. I don't think my website is quite designed very well to support all the iTunes widgets, adsense ads, amazon widgets, top posts, subscribe buttons, FB and G+ buttons on it. If I can show you mine or if you can show an existing website that shows how to utilize the space effectively, that would be monumental.

Right now I have following in the sidebar in order of appearance:

1. FB page and G+ page like and follow button
2. Email subscribe button
3. Top Pages and Posts widget
4. Adsense display ad (300*200)
5. Amazon widget (headphones)
6. Amazon widget (best selling music on amazon)
7. iTunes playlist for Taylor Swift's 1989 album (I'm planning to remove this since I don't see any activity on it)
8. Recent posts widget
9. Tickets widget
10. adsense text ad

I already think this is too much (is it?), and any input from you would be very much appreciated.

I am in no way an expert on Adsense/Amazon but if I came to your site and saw so many things in the sidebar it would surely distract me. Also i am not sure if running Adsense and amazon together is a good idea. you should search the forum for some info on this.

The player- please get rid of it. It serves no purpose. Personally UI is very important for me and if i have even the slightest trouble navigating or reading a site i move on. Read this- http://archetyped.com/know/redesigning-archetyped-side-project/

All you need to do is good proper keyword research for your music blog .. CPC for those keywords should be about >$2 . And then write on those keywords, then start the backlinking magic. You will see the good results.

I understand. I gotta get rid of those widgets I guess. My bounce rate is high 81%. That may be because of the reasons stated there.

Anyway, I'm reluctant to remove AdSense/Amazon from the site. AdSense is the only source of income (steady) I have now. Amazon doesn't really start to perform until the website gets a lot of traffic. It's a number game. But if either source makes me a decent income, I'll get rid of the other. That's my plan so far.
