Amazon Affiliate Application Denied - What now?

Hello all -

I applied to the Amazon affiliate program a few weeks ago, and finally yesterday someone went through and made a sale through one of my affiliate links on my authority site/blog. The thing is, I received this exact email the same day saying my application has been denied, for seemingly no reason that I can think of, does anyone have any experience in dealing with this before? I linked my full, uncloaked affiliate link in one of the outbound links on the page to the product. I followed the rules (to the best of my knowledge) completely white hat, no idea what is going on here. Message is below:

Thank you for your interest in the Amazon Associates Program.
We completed our review of your application to become an amazon Associate. After careful consideration, we have decided that your account may not present a mutually beneficial business opportunity. We have therefore decided not to approve your application to become an Amazon Associate.
Accordingly, we have closed the account under which you had been temporarily approved and that approval has now ended.
Thank you for your interest in amazon

Yeah, go to cj.com and get approved there.

Amazon isn`t on cj.com but here`s how you get approved. Buy a domain, install nice looking theme, add articles (can be scraped), add amazon links and their ToS. Don`t monetize it with other networks. Apply and send traffic and you get approved.

I've done the first few things but all my traffic is natural search engine. I hardly have more than 70/visitors a day, but I have adsense ads scattered around the site. Should I drop the adsense ads for the time being while I apply? Thanks for the help!

I believe I did make a sale and then when they checked my account they closed my account. I'm trying to figure out what went wrong during that time.

Sounds like you did something they thought was shady. Amazon's program is really easy to get into. At least for me it was. I got approved a few years ago with a 3 page website that was decent at best.

I should have elaborated... there are other places aside from Amazon to make money selling products. CJ has an extensive gaggle of advertisers with whom you can do business and is an excellent alternative to Amazon.

What i wanted to say is don`t monetize your Amazon sites with other networks when you apply. Later you can mix the offers on your site.

I got approved when my website had zero traffic. And it had been monetized with CJ links. Something might have been wrong with the content of your site. Have you placed the affiliate disclaimer on each page?

Its easy to get amazon approval. Just make sure you have a web store with all pages like privacy policy, contact us. Site must look legit.

This very same thing just happened to me. I've applied to most of the Amazon affiliate programmes (US, Canada, Australia and UK), and all of them seem to be ok with my application except for the UK one. I got a message very similar to the one Magicstatic received. They simply said my application had been denied and that they were sorry about it. I asked them why they had decided this, but their reply was still not explaining anything, just said "as mentioned before, your application is unsuccessful".
I got a little frustrated while signing up, their form is quite restricted when it comes to appropriately describe your intentions. In my case, I have a website that its all about a movie (the books, the movies, some merchandise) It is very clean, no ads, no dodgy looking things, working hard on SEO,... etc. My idea was to show them that website so they can see how "I intend to promote their products" (which seems to be of high importance to them), but I am intending to create a new website for each product I promote (might include several products in one website if they all belong to the same niche). But in their form, I couldn't explain all this, since most of the form is on a "pick one from the scroll-down options" fashion.
I just don't get why Amazon Canada or amazon US are fine with my application, but Amazon UK has issues with it?

I have an update from Amazon, might be of help. I was told by Amazon Spain that because of my location (working from New Zealand), they can't accept me into the program. Apparently they are not accepting affiliates from outside of Europe or America. The reason for this is they can't pay the associates that are working from outside this continents. So it is not really the websites themselves what are preventing me from entering the program but my location. They said this policy applies to all the Amazon European branches.

If you followed their ToS and everything is white hat, there should be no reason why they denied you.
