Hello guys, I'd like to share some news with you I've found on the Web today. Maybe some of you already know - Robert O'callahan - one of the key engineers in Mozilla posted these words on his blog:
So if you want an Internet --- which means, in many ways, a world --- that isn't controlled by Google, you must stop using Chrome now and encourage others to do the same. If you don't, and Google wins, then in years to come you'll wish you had a choice and have only yourself to blame for spurning it now.

As for now, Google pays Mozilla for keeping Google as default browser, yet this guy posted such a post and tries to make people aware of possible problems regarding Google's monopol over internet. This looks promising and I'm very curious what will happen next. I've found information that the next renegotiation of Mozilla-Google Contract is in November.

I hope that this article wasn't created just under the influence of O'callahan emotions and something big will happen.

Just imagine, if Mozilla would end the contact with Google and use Bing as a default browser - let's leave user experience with Bing on the side and think about SEO potential - Mozilla has around 17% of desktop traffic.

Or if something would actually happen and they would create their own browser instead of starting new contract with browsers already established on the market - I think there could be some easy-to-get traffic if the algorithm would work similar to Google at the beginning.

Here's the link to that article:

I keep my fingers crossed for some huge changes.

Tech world is volatile. Its scary too to think about the power in the hands of corporations like Google. But you have to give credit to Google that it has behaved in a very reasonable way so far, considering the size of the organization.

I'd love for Firefox to dump Google and go for Bing. Would create more balance and competition. Don't get me wrong, I love Google products but competition is at the heart of capitalism and can only help customers out in the long-term as both companies improve their products.

Maybe he should concentrate on turning Firefox back into the good browser it once was, and not piece of shit it is now.

I actually love Firefox now. Sucked for a LONG time but is actually very good now, much faster.

There's also the Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) release if you don't like the fast update cycle. Do a search as I can't post URLs yet.

If there was a browser that was just as good as chrome, I'd use that browser...however every google application I use is x10 better than their competitors. I was a firefox user for many years, however after trying chrome (I also tried opera, etc.) it is faster, not as buggy, and more secure.

Mozilla wants people to stop using chrome but their newest browser is exactly like it, its shit!

Ive been using comodo icedragon, it's a mozilla based browser and its way better than these new versions of firefox.

A little less functionality and performance is not that great of a sacrifice compared to tyrannical rule over the internet which google will have if we don't stop using their spyware, i.e. chrome.

Used Firefox for years. Then Firefox turned into more and more shit and i started using chrome. Show me a browser as good as chrome and i'll use it.

I use both chrome and mozilla and their latest update is ok

I think in overall user comfort chrome wins hands down but it will be nice to not depend on it totally as it will ultimately give rise to google monopoly over every single thing related to internet. Also one of my friends suggested to use safari ( heard for a couple of times but never saw or used it though) as an alternative.Castiel.

That is a little bit harsh, don't you think

Not at all, it used to be great, then year after year, update after update, it got shitter and shitter, slower and slower until it was finally at the level of ie.

This looks like a good news! :D
I also hope Firefox will change the browser and then will start a new era for the internet!

Looking for a browser better than chrome? Chrome Canary is the solution.

I think Firefox still performs adequately, though unfortunately Chrome is so much better these days. I still use both though, and I am not willing to hate Firefox. At least yet, we'll see when the newest piece of dung rolls out..

I would not be surprised to learn that Google ups its servers' speed when it recognizes its own browser product, chrome, is being used.
