Guys: Kindle is the Ticket!

First off: there's no need to upload .doc files. Calibre is a free library tool. I use it for ebooks I'm reading and it will convert almost anything. It's great at stripping the mso garbage out of files and cleaning them up. It also reads the TOC you make in WW and converts it and whatnot.

Second, I think images are helpful. I have about 20 pics in my book and as a docx the file was 4-5 MB. I uploaded it last night (whoo hoo!! First book!) and the transmission fee will be 12 cents. So I think it's worth it. I had problems formatting the images properly but that'll be trial and error for awhile I guess.

And thanks for this thread! I'm excited. It was a lot of work but I think it'll generate well.

Could it be that your chosen niche is really saturated so top content gets replaced pretty quickly?

However, if your best seller rank remained similiar and your sales plummeted that could be because of kindle unlimited. I sure hope not.

The niche is not that saturated (in my opinion), and there are a few similar, very popular eBooks in that niche. Well, there's not much I can do about it, except to start another free Kindle promo day.

Could be a slow season for that niche. It is possible that sales could pick up in a week or two.
I'm assuming there are fluctuations in the kindle market, just like in any other market.

That's true. I'll just wait and see what happens.

Congratulations! Keep at it and you will be at 30+ books in no time!

I've put two books on Amazon already since I've come across this thread. .I'm just wondering how I can actually promote this passed the KDP free promotion thing. . Any ideas? maybe someone should make a thread about ways to promote Kindle books once thy're published?

How many pages is the average on your kindle e-books? How many images you use?
Also how many words per page?

Regards

Just put one of my eBooks up for free promotion, I didn't think it was going to get over 50 free downloads per day, but to my surprise it has gotten over 635 downloads and there's still around 5 hours left, i'm sure i'll hit the 800 mark. It's funny how eBook's that I think are going to do great flop and ones like this surprise me. But it will be interesting how many paid downloads it will get.

Congratulations, did you make use of any free book promo websites? I'd be curious to know which ones you (and other members) find essential for your free promos, if any.

I did for my first eBook but I only got 49 free downloads, for this one I didn't put it up on any free promo site but the book that had over 830 free downloads yesterday, made 1 whole sale today lol.

Guys, I'm pulling out of eBooks (I can't do everything, so I'll just work on my mobile apps and CPA marketing). If anyone's interested, I'm selling two quality books (45 & 55 Kindle pages - Health & Fitness) for 250 USD each. Good covers, high quality text (done by a 4.8 star Canadian writer) - if anyone's interested, please PM me. Thanks.

I've got 5 books published now in different niches to test the waters .. And 4 of them are set to go free promotion tomorrow! Wish me luck. . Can I ask for some tips? Those who are succeeding ? What niches are you targeting? is non-fiction better than fiction? Any advice would be appreciated

Hey fats,
no one knows what experience you allready have with kindle. So no one can give you tipps. Make series. Look at the bestseller ranking and you will know what kind of books are going better. Fiction books. But on the other hand a fiction book is harder to write/rank. Please search for "kindle" on this forum and read the journeys of other selfpublisher. There are tons of information. Kindle is not such a wide topic and you can learn/read everything within a month.

Can you tell me why I am unable to find my books where Amazon is telling me they should be?

If you do not mind me asking, why are you pulling out and not at least keeping those 2 books for sale?

Hi Gobluthjd,

I am seriously considering the kindle route. Does amazon allow several pen names with one amazon seller account? Where do you create the pen name? In Author Central?

I use different pen names for each different niche/topic. I then write numerous, related books related to that first book. Customers see my name pop up on similar books. I link to my other books inside my book at the end, so they find them there too. Apparently it works: just got a review today saying they're recommending the book to their friends and they're checking out the other books by the same author (me).

Yes you can use an unlimited number of pen names and once the book is published you can edit the author details on Author central.

It's also really advisable for those of you publishers who plan to release multiple books in the same niche before moving on to the next one. When you market yourself as an expert in the subject then it's best to keep all of your books related to each other under that name.
