Help Please why my new domain become subdomain

Hi every one,

this is my first time using share hosting..i has bought 3 new domain names from cheapnames,i install wordpress on each domain and host it in share hosting(hostwinds)..

The problem is when i look up the cpanel today all my new sites can be access from another link,i mean it become a subdomain to my main site.

for more explanation: here are the example of my sites

site 1 : cucumberbad.com
site 2 : bananaspear.org
site 3: supershield.com

and here is my old and main site : donaldsuper.com

all 3 sites above can be access individualy by typing the url..but the problem that make me confius is, i also can access those 3 site from this link : cucumberbad.donaldsuper.com, bananaspear.donaldsuper.com and supershield.donaldsuper.com..

How can i fix this?and if i cant fix it because this the way share hosting is,does this will harm my site such doing seo(pass the link juice etc) and ranking it in google,?

You are fine. I can see the same thing on my cPanel. It is just the main root and its subdomains.

Use the domains as addon domains and not subdomains...

If you're using bananaspear.org as addon domain then you can never see it as bananaspear.org.donaldsuper.com or bananaspear.donaldsuper.com or whatever else. You can only see as bananaspear.org.

Ask you host (its technical team) to look into it, if the current situation isn't too logical for you.

SORRY! Wait a second... I can verify your problem on my site too...

I've a main site called abc.com (for example only). I also have another domain as addon domain called pqrs.in

I am always able to open pqrs.in in browser. Also I can also open abc.com in browser (obviously) .
Now I tried (for the first time) pqrs.abc.com in my browser, and it opened the site as:
pqrs.abc.com!!!!

So sorry once again for my earlier explanation, which I though was logical... not any more... it isn't (logical)! lol.

Of course, never thought of opening it as pqrs.abc.com! It needs a crooked spiked up brain to try something like that! lol jk.

It's a huge bug, imo. Whatelse to say now? hehehe

i already doing that,i use addon domain,and it make me confius when i also can access those sites with just 1 link as i said above..i thought i has make some mistake when put the new domains on cpanel,

As the others say make sure that you have added the domains as addons domains. But still you will see domains as subdomains on your cpanel.

No... it's not question of seeing it in cpanel only. You can actually open the site in your browser... see my explanation in my above post. I tried it to verify and actually could see the site opening as pqrs.abc.com:

Main site: abc.com
addon site: pqrs.in

Opened the addon site pqrs.in in my browser as pqrs.abc.com, and it actually opened as pqrs.abc.com! I was expecting a "server not found" or some similar error message being thrown at me... So are addon domain or subdomain interpreted as same by the browser, or is it a bug in Linux hosting engine?

lol. Now I can say that SEO too may have 100001 bugs likewise. So I don't think even Google can answer it confidently without doing many such experiments. It's not logical any more... thanks to you!

P.S.:

Better ask Google Guru Matt Cutts on his site. I guess he will have plenty of straight-faced 110% convincing-sounding answers to that, but none will be the proven and right one... as usual!

Whatever they mean by that green statement, they are not really 100% committed to what they preach, or to what they invent!

The world isn't perfectly round and right, and so google too isn't either! So carry on with whatever is available to you, or do many experiments and find your answers yourself. That would be the right approach, at least in such cases.

Use .htaccess to force the desired domain to load if someone visits the subdomain, IP address, folder, etc. Problem solved.

I changed the .htaccess file (using cpanel > file manager > edit (and of course backing up the original .htaccess file) to the following. Please replace with your required-domain and main domain, and their extensions where ever required):

Actually I used Google to find the above helpful code, but I didn't save that webpage, and I so am unable to recollect it to which I wanted to give due credit.


The above code is not exactly as it was on that web page, because I had made many modifications in some of the original words that were replaced to ReqdDomain, and Maindomain, and ext... So my apologies to the original poster on that webpage which unfortunate I can't remember at this time.

As mentioned, kindly make backup of your files before you do modifications. The above code may or may not work for you. It worked for me. Now when I try to open reqddomain.maindomain.com then I get a "Server not found" error, which is what it should give. Earlier I was able to open both reqddomain.ext as well as reqddomain.maindomain.com in my browser. Although the .htaccess method is helpful, the point remains that why should we have such confusing event (problem mentioned by OP, and verified by me, at least) in the first place?
