Well not everyone providing a piece of advice on here would be an SEO guru, its just members trying to help one another. And thats the beauty of discussions as things could work in different ways for different people.

I'm totally agree with tc101. Actually in today's scenario nobody can tell the exact truth of SEO, Google is working with very crazy mind, It can bring your site on No.1 today and throw it to out of Google ranking, It's all up to Google, SEO gurus can just predict. Nothing else.

I rarely see anybody announcing themselves to be a GURU.
If anybody gives advice regarding SEO it has to be taken that it is their OPINION.
As with everything nobody should take one source to be FACT.
Everything has to be TESTED before it can be proven to be EVIDENCE.

This is true.
And to add onto this, note that what works for my site(s), may not work for yours.
So don't take my tests to completely rule out what you should or should not do.

SEO is all about experience and whatever person guides you may be his experience..like i am not SEO guru and hence i guide whenever my experience can help others else i never do..likewise everyone does.
what works for one site may not work for other since there are many factors involved in it.
I haven't earned a penny yet..but i always learn by reading comments of others

I was thinking the same thing lol, OP might just think he knows more than he really does.

I will respond to OPs list:

1. Sitewide links are OK but the only sites that do them anymore are shady sites. When a shady site goes bad you now have a sitewide link on all pages of a poisonous site, lol. Ouch.
2. Yes, you have to mix nofollow and do-follow. What a lot of people don't realize is that too many do-follow links actually harm you. But really you don't have to make any effort to mix these 2, just don't pay attention to it when you linkbuilding and it mixes itself.
3. Link velocity really depends on the site and the kinds of links you're building. One time in 2009 or 2010 I killed a brand new site by spamming social bookmarks to it for a week. It never recovered and I could never get it to rank for anything significant. A lot of $ down the drain.
4. I don't know about irrelevant linking, I am of the opinion that a link is a link.

I believe if website has unique contents, then seo is not at all required. so if you want to get away with fake seos, you need to start putting unique contents on website.

I think your mistaking the advice given on this forum for something else- I don't see many people making those bold statements.

this forum has some of the best SEO/IM people out there, and you'll generally find discussions on what works, answers to questions and advise here, as a posed to facts and dictations - that's because we all appreciate that SEO is very changeable and unique to every situation.

There are no gurus on blackhatworld, just a lot of people that have been doing real world SEO for a long time, and are happy to help each other out.

Please don't underestimate the rich resource that blackhatworld is, or you will be missing out.

Think with your own head, don't fall into a trap of "SEO experts" who after their 10 years of SEO and SMO experience offer you AMF Facebook likes for 2$.

2014 Fiverr style modern gurus:

SEO guru asking what's OBL
SEO expert with 10 years of experience trying to sell 50 blog comments for 5$
SMO expert selling AMF FB likes for 2$
SEO expert 100% sure he will rank you for "make money online" for 100$ with Wiki links and blog comments

Like many others before me, I bought a few services on BHW because I thought it was a great website. Truth is a great website doesn't mean great service providers using it to advertize.

BHW is a great place to share but, based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend buying on it (even products that have been validated by high ranked users and mods). Good (professional) service providers don't sell on forums : this is the unconvinient truth. On here, you'll find amateurs with beautifully designed ads pretending to be pros.

Speaking from my own experience when sites was either banned or started loosing positions after those moves.

Disagree. There is no difference between SEO company or individual expert. Some companies provide worth service than some individuals. And for example I not guessing, I know for sure because experiment.
