There are people who do misrepresent their abilities, but this is kind of a silly post. SEO is a moving target and there are 1000s of theories, some of which work at various points in time. Several of the working theories have been annihilated by the big G in the last 18 months. Even casual readers here are smarter and more in the know that people anywhere else on the internet.

These guys know their stuff inside and out, but be realistic.. there's no magic wand, and the rules change all the time.

i used to rank really high for a highly competetive keyphrase...for years..then it died. I am not losing sleep over it but it would be nice to get back. Anyone care to tell my why my site was punished and how to get it back?

I guess that you should spent at least some time for onsite seo, but backlinks of course have the most weight
and if you want long term results, you should generate high quality diverse backlinks to your website

buyer beware.... but i have learned a good bit from the various threads but also used what was said and tinkered... if anything the ideas should spark creativity amongst us to see what can be possible done... as for gurus / experts... or even people who went to school... man, no one is an expert... everything changes every second... my advice is be a student of reading... and verifying it for yourself only... cheers mate and keep on white hatting

Well it depends on the keywords your chasing.

Easy Keywords requires one approach and Hard Keywords require a more advanced approach.

Alot of times people just give 1 lot of advice and summarize their experience with Seo and Results - so that's why your experience maybe slightly different using a general approach.

BHW last time I looked was free - people are providing their insights for free - so yeah - you can take it and run with it - or stick it on your dart board .. lol.

I believe if website has unique contents, then seo is not at all required. so if you want to get away with fake seos, you need to start putting unique contents on website.

I think after Matt Cutts the meaning of SEO get changed. Now, instead of reading ebooks and threads what i suggest is to do all things by yourself - which all looks natural. Now, no one is guru in IM world now. Anything can happen - Just we have to do all it in right way.

Yes - agreed with you. Because now there is no thumb rule of any link building stratagies or anything. Just unique and high quality contents and natural backlinks wins.

I'm totally agree with tc101. Actually in today's scenario nobody can tell the exact truth of SEO, Google is working with very crazy mind, It can bring your site on No.1 today and throw it to out of Google ranking, It's all up to Google, SEO gurus can just predict. Nothing else.

Yes, Of course press release is most important part of any link building. It is the way to explain through news regarding your announcement of service. And yes, SBWIRE, PRLOG are good, Prweb is awesome if you can pay higher amount.
