Ranking images in Google

Hello Guys!

I have a lot of images on Facebook, Msypace, etc. However, they just don´t rank in Google... I´ve been looking for a while, but I just could´t find a good service, which would help me improve the ranking of images... Do you know how I can get them to rank better, or if there is a good service to do so?

Yours,

I have the exact same problem. I work for a retail store and we sell using photos, but I seem to never be able to rank our photos at the top of google for their keywords.

You guys getting your meta's/descriptions done? Are the images unique?

Image optimization is important for ranking. so you can do it properly.
-Adding the file name with a relevant keyword
-Use Alt tags. An Alt tags on your image that clearly describes your image.
-reducing file size for high loading speed

In order to make sure that your image ranks in google you need to properly optimize it. These are the key factors:
  • Alt tag - describes what an image is, should be precise, unique and consist of approx. 6 words,
  • Linked image - indicates the importance of an image and its role on the site,
  • Title - holding your mouse over an image displays more information about it,
  • The text, as well as its formatting, surrounding an image is also important and may affect the ranking
  • The name of an image - e.g. /image-positioning.jpg
  • The size of an image.
What is more, I think the number of images may also affect their ranking (less is better).

Think there's something in sitemaps for images
