why is it so difficult to rank using white hat?

My website has already one year and I have been using white hat methods since then to rank my websites still I'm getting few visits and few engagement , I wonder if it has to do because I'm kind on new on this or because white hat methods to rank websites take time.

Actually white hat SEO is a slow proces other than the black hat but it is effective than the black hat. You can update on page of your site if you are not getting rank from last one year.

This could be many things, im not sure how successful your niche is, if your niche happens to be 'black printer toner pre 1990' then you probably wont get much traffic even if you ranked number 1.

I managed to get one of my bigger sites to rank 1 with little effort and NO black hat. Just simple on page seo. Sounds like you need more content, and to target more keywords. Review your pages and make sure they are optimized correctly. MOST black hat operations will have a foundation of great white hat techniques in place, using black hat methods to improve the performance of their white hat tactics.

That being said, have patience, dont put the cart before the horse and do the white hat stuff right. It is all too often that people get inpatient and just dive into spending money on black hat efforts towards a site that really isn't prepared for it.

Could you be a little more specific about the "white hat methods" you were using for a year and they didnt have any effect? Maybe we could suggest you some other methods or improve your own, there is no way that after a year there would be no significant results

You need links. Great links. You need a great linkbuilding plan, executed with tools (diy) or services. Great links and then drip feed content to your growing traffic to get retention, building audience and authority.

If done properly, White Hat won't take a year to rank. At most it can take like 2 months.
It only takes time because everything is natural.

It depends on how competitive the targeted keyword is you're going after. If you have access to backlink tools like opensite explorer or majesticSEO (there are others), you can get an idea of how strong the backlink portfolios of your competitors are and if you are going after the right kws for you at this time as it takes some resources to displace an authority site that is ranking for a high search volume term.

it truly depends on your keyword and the competition, and i think whitehat ranks websites, but just that you follow all the rules, gray hat seems better , when compared to white hat though, but am always mixing the simple blackhat with white site for my authority websites.

Competition could be too heavy? Remember, links are important and obtaining them isn't exactly black hat. Get links to your site by reaching out to someone with a site that has the same niche as you and optimize the anchor text for that link. It's possible that any link going to your site isn't being picked up by google at all. You might not even exist in Google's eyes.
