Hello guys,

Matt cutts tweeted that he has made an update targeting "spammy" aka money making keywords.
This is why some of you might have seen some shuffling around the serp today or/yesterday.

Here is the link for the tweet : https://twitter.com/mattcutts/status/344574964365672448

There are absolutely no evidence like some might have claimed that this update was targeting sape links even if you were hit and you were using them, it might be only due to the fact that you are targetting this kind of keywords.

Good luck !

I'm tracking six of the top blackhat sites in the payday loans niche. You can see the rankings for yourself (login details to rankranger are lower on the page).

Five of the six blackhat sites i was tracking have been wiped from the SERPs.

Here is a brief overview of the data. Go to agentblackhat.com/serp-watch to see more detailed info.

In the image you might notice the down arrow is only a small number but the overall is a huge drop, this is because the keywords have dropped past position 500.

I imagine this is all manual action as the algorithm is not intelligent enough to discover such sites on its own.

Thank you Gorang !
I've been reading your blog and logged in the rankranger account 3 or 4 days ago. It's a really nice idea !
Whether it's manual action or algorithmic is hard to guess, but there has been an action for sure.

Ya, doing great work Gorang, love actual the data.

I have some sites that survived... others died in the same niche with the same type of links.

Perhaps Gorang is right - maybe they took manual action... on specific IPs they knew to be "repeat" spammers in certain niches?

I haven't had time to compare the data, but it's interesting that some of my sites rank the same (on large keywords), while others are gone.

Every update, g00gle targets and deindex sape links. Not all of them but certainly a fraction of them. We all know this.
I don't even know why people would buy sape links when there are other blog networks to choose from that will provide the same quality and has less chance of getting deindex than SAPE.

I just got hit. 2 sites same niche. Both been wiped off the serps for the same keyword. BUT they are still ranking for other keywords.

Gutted. I was banking. Now back to the drawing board. AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello weBay.
Thanks for reporting, No worries I'm pretty sure you'll find out a way to get your rankings back.
The fact that you are still ranking on other keywords shows that this "update" or "filter" target very specific keywords.
There are many people reporting in other threads that they were using sape before they got hit today. I personally don't beleive that it related to sape.
Do you mind saying if you were using it ?

The question is, will the same tactics work to get ranked again?

I also have some sites in the same niche that got it and i didn't use Sape links in any of them so i agree that this update might have targeted "money keywords".

There's gonna be a lot of overlap, no matter what. Some money keywords are spammy by nature (pharma, gambling, payday loans etc) and I wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot of false positives.

all my blogs which were ranking on 1st page of google are ranking on 2nd-3rd page now! i didn't do any backlinking at all, just made them before a month!!

I am seeing little drop in traffic for my other sites too.

Lets see how big this update can be. then only we can come up with solutions.
