How do You Protect Your Eyes?

i keep contrast to 40 and brightness to 10 .... blink alot ... and wash my eyes with water now and then ...

get a good monitor if you are using lcd change it to led and get an ips panel ...

LED has no IPS panel. Its an LCD only technology.

I already have a number of -6 D but that is mainly because I'm using spectacles since my childhood.
I try not to sit for too long in front of the PC and try to have a lot of healthy food & drinks.

I use f.lux, contrast on 45/100 and brightness on 5/100. I've also set my default page zoom on 150% and try to sit as far as possible from the monitor.
Most annoying for me is the brightness, I the day time it's OK even if it's a little higher but at night anything more than 5/100 it's like looking at a lightbulb.

Too late for me, going blind in one eye and the other is out of focus but still fixable with glasses, but its fading noticeably. Ben having my face stuck in a computer screen for 30 years.

Your eyes never really focus when looking at monitors, so make sure you glance away and stare at something in real life for an extended period (and as often as possible). Also take breaks, go outside, get off the computer. Most business to be had you will not find staring through this time sucking device.

You should eat carrots or drink carrot juice. Also eat red Tomato 1-2 in lunch time.

Yeah, I squeeze my own juices. They really are amazing, especially carrot juice.

Thanks for all the replies. From now on I will take this more seriously and take breaks regularly. I guess the well known 20-20-20 rule is the key.

Good Tip: Try to look somewhere else while you browsing the internet every now and then
It is a good idea to look around you, step outside, look at the sky, etc.

I don't think F.lux will be enough if your eyes keeps getting worse each year. I think the problem is in your monitor. Try to lower your contrast and color setting in your monitor. Set it to less than 40 %, and lower in by 2 for each hour your sit in front of your computer.
If that doesn't help, try consult in a real eye health forum, not in BHW :)

My eyes are good, but if I work on day only on the pc. My eyes hurt a little bit. I will try to do more breaks to refresh my eyes. But I need them for BHW :P

You mean 360" angle, right :D

My eyes are fine but the 15 years of PC-abusement (13 years just gaming lol, what a waste of time) ruined my back ...

I go out for a smoke every 45 Minutes or so, maybe that is what keeps my eyes from getting crushed ;)

I use eyedrops. But mostly i I feel like my eyes likes the sun alot.

I just got the Google Chrome Extension "Clearly" (from evernote), and it's actually amazing for reading on the computer. It takes the content of the page and formats it so that it's easier on your eyes to read than from a website. It works for pretty much everything in terms of reading and browsing. At first I thought it wouldn't make much of a difference, but TRUST ME, it did.... I mean I at least find it much more enjoyable to be reading using Clearly on many sites than to read off the sites with all different spacing, fonts, and colors (whether their good or not, our eyes have to adjust over and over, right?).... its just simple black and white text and consistently formatted.

It may not be the complete solution to protecting your eyes, but I do feel like my eyes are less heavy for the last week.
