I'm running CS x3 on a win7 x64 machinefor a while now without any problems.

I didn't reboot for quite a while but had to for a couple windows updates.

After the reboot CS didn't start up anymore.

Installed updates were:
security patches for dotnet 4.5
windows security patches
IE 10

any ideas on how I can get CS to work again?

Try reinstalling it - obvious but can help. I have the same os, also rebooting only for win updates, but cs is working. If it won't help you can try windows recovery to the previous state.

No problem, there are 2 files located in the backup folder which you can try copying into the CS folder, this usually does the trick. Its from CS closing improperly and will not be seen in X4

I can not wait for this! I am running it on a terrible laptop and it often restarts so I have to save those 2 files on a thumb drive to continually fix it.

sure .. from the skype main window:

tools - options - advanced - connections - deselect use port 80, then save and restart skype
