How does this guy stay under the radar?

Okay, this guy has been around forever and I've actually downloaded quite a bit from his blog.

I know he gets some serious traffic, and between urlca$h/rapid$hare/ads at the top he must be making some coin. But almost ALL of that stuff is copyrighted, so is the lesson that blogger just doesn't care? Has it's hands full with autoblogs to worry about mere copyright violators? Or is he just lucky no one has clicked "flag blog" yet lol? (Please no one do that cause I like this guy's stuff! ...but do you think that would screw him if people did? Seems to me if it were that easy he'd have gone down a long time ago.) Several months ago he had a banner up that said something to the effect of, "hurry up and get what you want because this blog is probably going down." A month later, the note was gone and the blog remained in full force.

I ask because I have a whole 1TB hard drive almost full of stuff like that. I could easily run a few of those in a couple different genres; the concept seems deceivingly simple and the market is as broad as your musical taste. What if I did it with WP instead of blogger? Would I then be liable for copyright issues? Is it even an issue or am I making a mountain out of a molehill? What do u think BHW?

thats warez.. if your hosting accepts u sharing warez (even if ur not hosting them, just linking) go for it.. but first ask them!

no one even bother about copyright thing here in India,china or any other third world country.Some of my friends here are running websites on hollywood celebs pics and vids and they are making some serious bucks.Dont know whats the condition in US or UK and their rules and laws on copyrights violation.

Same in south america, even movies and music are distribute freely on websites.

Well blogger is google, isn't it? So they're definitely subject to US laws, and I'm pretty sure they're not down with warez, lol. But yeah, I figured that's why you wouldn't want to do it on your own domain. I know the RIAA has been losing a lot of steam lately (who didn't see that one coming). I guess the key is to be a medium sized fish in a big pond? I have that nagging feeling that I'm missing something that will get me shut down after putting in a lot of work. Oh well, guess no one ever made any money by worrying... I'm going to get started on this. If anyone else reads this thread and sees a gaping loophole that I'm missing please let me know!

Linking isn't illegal in the U.S... It produces "civil" damages that you can be sued for. The police will never show up for Felony Linking... but you can be sued for anything and you can lose if damages are proved.

sweet share, ive seen string cheese in concert at festivals before...not really the type of music you usually find being shared! dont have any idea how he is getting by with this on a g00gle sponsored page....i guess just keep em under the radar by not doing posts like this anymore..lol

it's the same with all the torrent sites.. they aren't hosting the content they are providing links to where to find it

i don't know, he is going to be contacted by someone high up soon though, thats all crazy. I would never post that much stuff without covering up tracks, just might as well put his name in the title of the website lol

yeah that's what i figured, no harm posting it here since it's already been all over the major jam band boards the past year or two. there are tons of people out there who will d/l that stuff, especially the re-mastered commercially released concerts like artfuldodger mentioned. ooomph, that's true, i've seen similar disclaimers around before. i guess google/blogger just has bigger things on their plate to worry about...

edit: for the record i'm not a big string cheese fan lol... but i was a hell of a phish-head back in the day...

Even I have see over 5 or 6 blogs in blogger related to warez downloads. There is no issues at all.

Yeah the laws are related to hosting the files it is very hard to prosecute for sharing links and also there are many persons hosting the files so they would need to chase all the seeds is a torrent, If you are in Asia or another country wthout strong copyright protection you are fairly safe, even hosting offshore creates a problem in prosecuting anyone

in the usa im pretty sure its illegal to even be affiliated with the development of a warez/pirate website
