Best practices for Tumblr blogs

I know that the obvious answer will be to use different accounts for Tumblr with different IPs, but is that really necessary to avoid a mass ban on all blogs? I've seen threads about people having half of their Tumblr blogs banned, but the other half were in tact on the same account, which is why I'm puzzled as to how a Tumblr ban works. I will ultimately drive traffic to my website, so in the long run this won't matter, but at the moment I need to know what's the best way to start off. Please keep in mind that I do not have a private server or proxies, so that will take me some time to learn and master.

The best way to bank from Tumblrs is using bots, and botting without proxies (ideally private ones) will limit your potential growth and accounts stability/duration.

These last weeks tumblr has been really trigger happy when it comes to banning accounts thanks to the massive popularity it has acquired on many black hat IM forums, hence some extra amount of people surprised they got banned and posting it.

For me tumblr has always been really random when it comes to ban accounts. Of course there are safeguards you can take to try to make your accounts last longer, but at the end, for me on tumblr there has always been an element of luck.

Save some money and buy some quality proxies.

Money for proxies isn't the issue, figuring out Tumblr is. At the moment I'm just using Fatboy's Tumblr queue bot and I already have 20 followers after a day, which isn't the best, but it's got me excited for the journey to come. After I understand the ins and outs of Tumblr, I will definitely invest in a proxy list. What's the ballpark estimate for a list of private proxies? Or is it worth it to find a monthly service that offers fresh proxies?

If you want to learn the ins and outs of tumblr you just have to jump into the sea drown a time or two, we have all started from zero and got our ass banned everywhere while we were learning.

This is from experience : Tumblr bans for posting spammed links.

For example, if you're linking directly to a site that has been marked as spam, your blogs can be taken down regardless of if they are made with 1 proxy or 1 million proxies.

I had an entire network taken down because I linked to a site that was spammed (and blacklisted) by other people.

If you just want to start learning about Tumblr then just start with one account and try to build it up over time. Especially if you have time. This knowledge will come in hand when you want to scale your operation. The fact is that people who take this time in the beginning are going to be more successful at the end because they understand the ins and outs rather than just straight up spamming away blindly.


One thing I want to reference in your first post about accounts and proxies. When you do decide to scale up your best bet is to use one private proxy per Tumblr account. This is going the be (one of) the safest way(s) for you to run your accounts. Another good practice is to prepare to lose accounts. You should never have to "depend" on an account for something and there should always be a fallback plan and ideally fallback accounts that you also build up but don't use in the same way - or you build them up with another proxy provider. If you are running a successful operation you should be making enough to do this. These backups will ensure that you never get halted completely and that you can always spring back rather quickly. Just in case.


One more thing on being prepared - you're going to lose accounts it just happens. There are lots of ways and reasons why an account can be banned and while I'd love to think that I am or you are going to do everything perfectly every time this is just simply not the case. Something will happen and you will lose accounts the best thing you can do is learn from those mistakes so you can minimize the losses over a longer period of time.

You will find that their 'policies' are pretty random anyway.

Invest in some private proxies spend $10 -$20. Use one proxy per account. Create your own self hosted blogs/sites and push traffic to your money sites.

When i first started last year i knew ZERO about Tm$blr and had no tools, no proxies, etc. In fact i made my first $1200 without any tools whatsoever and learning as i went , while watching the ever changing tide of Tm$blr.

Over the course of time i've lost about 60 accounts. (which is nothing in the grand scheme of things)

Keep reading the threads, but if you're doing more reading than working after 3 days you're just wasting time.
