What a great thread. I wish I knew about this last year.

I created a medical self help book. At first I didn't offer it for free and had 0 sales. Now it is going through the free promotion. I almost have 100 downloads. The book was even mentioned on a forum.

I hope the book helps someone. It has helped me.

Nice. I'm convinced that offering it free is the way to go; builds buzz and creates customers for your other books.

Ok I should have known that I will not succeed with PLR articles. My plan now is to hire freelancer that will rewrite some e-book with around 10000 words. I am looking for freelancers at odesk but I see that they charge 5-30$ per hour. You said you pay 15-30$ per project. How many hours they usually charge for rewriting 10000 words e-book?

Don't pay someone to rewrite an ebook. That's only one step above using PLR. Have them write new, unique, never-been-published material.

And I don't let them charge by the hour. I pay a flat fee for the whole book.

Re-writing is tricky if you don't have someone who is really good with tested work. The reason is what GodBluth said in his previous post. You don't want to have 8-10 live books, making you 50 sales/day and have all your account suspended because of PLR issues.

Guys, stop always searching for shortcuts Think bigger and act accordingly.

I'll be putting out my Kindle guide free for all BHW'ers in the next day or so!

And yes, I write in Word and upload that directly to KDP. So you can definitely do that.

Sorry, I had to take the link down, my site was hacked into 3 separate times by BHW'ers, so it wasn't worth the trouble trying to give it away here. They ruined it for the rest of you, sorry! It's on Amazon, but I can't post a link (according to the mods), because that would be selling outside of BHW. My hands are tied.

You say you had to take your link down because you were hacked? I've been subscribed to your thread since the beginning and I certainly did not see where you posted a link or mentioned the title of your guide before having to "take it down"? And why would you have to put up your guide on your own website when you can merely upload it to Mediafire or one of the other sites?

I hope that you have been honest with us regarding your sales and success with Kindle and that this has not just been an elaborate "plan" to boost your Kindle sales for your Kindle guide.

First you promise everyone that your wonderful Kindle guide is coming and that it will be free to members, then you're cagey about it (you still haven't given the title) and say it's only available on kindle. What's up, dude?

He did posted the guide. I think I have downloaded it when it was still up. Why he posted that on his site is his choice, you can't act like a douche and complain on someones work . It was or still is, free, on amazon store, but all the information from the ebook you will find it here so don't stress to much.

Here's just 2 of my books that are at #1 in their categories. Sales rank in the 5,000? Go to kdpcalculator.com. That book is selling about 30 copies per day. Keep in mind I have nearly 50 books available on KDP, and adding more daily. You do the math.

Your thread has inspired me - and no doubt many others here - and it would be really disappointing if we get our hopes up based on a lie.

I am REALLY impressed by your work ethic and your determination - when you started this thread you had 21 (?) books published, now you have 50! Kudos to you! You're obviously boxing VERY smart to be selling that number of books per day and I salute your success and wish you well!

@GotBluthJD, What is the best ebook writer you'd suggest? I wrote everything in word 2013, but when I tried to convert in kindle format with calibre, it gave out some annoying result, like everything was messed up. Any suggestion would be considered atm.
