The thing is, everyone knows how to do something. We just do not think that anyone would pay to learn it. Usually we are wrong. Somewhere someone wants to know how to do what ever you know how to do, no matter how mundane it may seem.

Just find a related keyword and go for it.

BYW, thoise doing your own writing, get Dragon. Its much more productive for the first draft.

I am almost sure you can find it if you look.

Haven't heard too many positive reviews on Dragon. It has around 4 stars on Amazon which is pretty ok, but sometimes I feel it's harder to correct than to write directly.

Where do you get info on how to format and upload your book.

I know, newbie questions but they might help others.

I actually wrote a suspense thriller about 10 years ago. Never did anything with it though, just threw it in a binder and let it sit. So this might be perfect for me. The wife says I should be a writer since I have a sick and twister mindframe...lol

And yes, I write in Word and upload that directly to KDP. So you can definitely do that.

I use different pen names for each different niche/topic. I then write numerous, related books related to that first book. Customers see my name pop up on similar books. I link to my other books inside my book at the end, so they find them there too. Apparently it works: just got a review today saying they're recommending the book to their friends and they're checking out the other books by the same author (me).

How do you keep track of all that ? The more it increases the more I get crazy making lists of pen names.

I just put up my first story (SIFI End Of The World Story) that I wrote two years ago for a university paper. -- I got a 98% on it, and my prof said she loved it, so hopefully others will too, and it can make some money...I put the price to 2.99 so i could have the 70%... Hope it sells a couple copies.. Honestly I would think it would be really cool just to say I have a published book...

Okay, so you based an ebook on a sci-fi story that you once published in a university paper. University papers are small to begin with and so I imagine that the printed story ran was published on 2 or 3 pages? How many pages were in the ebook? (The ebook that contained the sci-fi story you ran in the university paper.)

What about maybe if you posted 2-3 paragraphs from your book to wattpad and put a link to get the rest. I think that would be good for getting your book out there. I have had some short stories getting tons of hits on there. Would be worth a try for sure.

Just published my first e-book.
I got 124 downloads and #1 on Free Ebooks in one of my categories.
Not sure but I think it's pretty good for the first day of having it free. Will see how the other 4 days will go.

Good job! You're taking action. #1 on Free books is not too shabby for your first day Keep up the marketing and that will translate into sales when your book goes off of Free.

Yes, I suppose there are not many E-books in that category ( around 2000 ) so being #1 for Free isn't too hard but anyway, it's a cool thing since it increases the visibility.
Having a lil bit more expensive price ( in order to have the readers interested in getting a better deal) also helped I guess.

I use dragon to get the grunt work down in rough draft, then copy the document to a txt file and finish it.

I do not edit in dragon.

You can upload them, if your translation is unique, AND if you put [Translated] after the title. They are not eligible for KDP Select, however.

I've experimented with this. None of it was even close to the profit I get from KDP Select. The thing is, Amazon is one of the most visited sites in the world. And Amazon loves people that enroll in KDP Select. What does that mean? They'll promote my book for free. And they're powerful promoters.

Once you start selling outside of Amazon, they stop promoting. And, so far at least, I've found any slight gain in sales from other locations is miniscule compared to KDP Select sales.

Also, with KDP Select - you cannot put your book on any other network. So remember that. You can if you do not choose KDP Select, but if you get caught selling your book on google play or elsewhere, your done.

Google "Amazon Publishing" I forget the link but it will take you to a link called KDP Select - and if you click that you will see what it is.
Basically you publish a book, and get 35% royalty instead of 70% - but the advertising is better with KDP Select and you cannot publish
your book anywhere else but Amazon. You can choose KDP SELECT on some books and not on others, and test the market on each.

You can use different author names (pen names) for each niche you write about
the Covers I make are 1000 x 2500 pixels --
you can find plently of templates for covers , psd files, but upload must be in jpeg or tiff

Seems suspense and thrillers sell really well........ make a series of say 3 or 4 books, and you may get a following.

The skies the limit on what you can do with this...... and you can make alot of money if you write good novels, or info about something.

I just launched my first eBook today , its on the market now (like 20 minutes ago) - and its weird seeing it LOL - but cool ... the formatting
was a bit off tho , so I am asking them about that.... see where it goes

I wouldn't mind doing some books if maybe I could do something I'm actually interested in, these would be non-fiction only. But what topics really would sell at 2.99? Like could I do shortish books on video games lets say and people might be interested?
