I bought another lot of aged domains today and curious to know what BHW thinks it's worth?

wow only 10 bucks ... that can't be right, can it?

You expect to make millions just because the domains is old? Typically a domain itself is worth the reg fee, tops, unless there's a site behind pulling in money on regular basis. But if someone really wants the domain for whatever purposes, then there can be a different pricetag on just the domain, but not without any (personal) reason.

Your challenge is to find the right people to sell to.

For me, I won't even buy it for $5. I don't have any idea to monetize with such domain.

But if you can convince, say any big company about its potential, may be you can charge five to six figure? Just an example, although I highly doubt it.

Ok I could debunk this but not worth the energy but will say if what you're saying was true then sites like flippa wouldn't have people paying the amounts of money they have for aged domains. And I never said I expect to make millions because a domain is aged ... there are other factors that determine worth.

each domain regardless of the keywords is worth it's registration price. nothing more ...
if you want a domain to be worth something you'd have to buy it and develop it

In theory the amount any domain is worth is whatever a willing buyer is prepared to pay, but that is pure theory.

If the domain is "real", i.e. not "fake" and if it has PR then you can make money from it regardless of the name by selling backlinks.

The problem is determining if it is "fake" or not since that takes a lot of man hours unless you have software to test.

Your Domain has NO PR and no historical backlinks so it's probably not worth anything.

If you ever get to gather enough energy, then please do prove me wrong. If you just have plain domain - no matter how old - without any backlinks nor content, it's not worth any more than anyone is willing to pay for it, since it doesn't add any benefit (apart from the wanted name) for the buyer.

I don't know much about Flippa, but my impression is that mostly people sell established websites that generate income, or at least highly ranked domains.

yeah I have been trying to buy high pr doms through dropday that are real for a while and I did get a couple of real pr5 that cost less than $70 recently and I am now selling links off em for $38 a month which is cool :)

the problem is it takes so long to test tem all offa the dropday lists so they are oftentimes alrady sold before you can find em
but it's worth the effort if you can be bothered

be nice if there was an easier way to test tho coz half of em are fake

I think you are full of BS and just trying to drum up interest in selling it.

Why is it still offered for sale on Godaddy ?

Because you hope some one here will be foolish enough to buy it ?

Very quick to pass judgement. Maybe he is selling through GoDaddy?

Ok so because you've asked me to debunk I will spend a few minutes doing so...

First you may want to check out these domain names that sold on flippa very similar to mine (as far no pr, backlinks, length and/or age):

- https://flippa.com/2805543-discount...remium-aged-domain-great-business-opportunity - Sold for $250,000
- https://flippa.com/2805543-discount...remium-aged-domain-great-business-opportunity - Sold for $30,000
- https://flippa.com/2865166-7-yrs-ol...-niche-related-authority-domain-name-for-sale - Sold for $855
- https://flippa.com/2845756-godaddy-appraisal-of-7000-dollars-10-years-old-no-reserve - Sold for $1,550

Now here are some of my domains that sold on flippa ... some of which I asked for valuations on BHW and received the same response you guys are giving:

- https://flippa.com/2847034-cheapfees-com-amazing-10-year-old-domain-name-no-reserve - Sold for $250
- https://flippa.com/2857455-caught-tv-amazing-8-year-old-domain-name-no-reserve - Sold for $600 (says $155 but I got a BIN offer right before auction ended and accepted it with consent from auction winner)
- https://flippa.com/2823535-phpmap-com-amazing-9-year-old-domain-name-valued-at-20324-no-reserve - Sold for $140
- https://flippa.com/2752870-popweekly-com-amazing-domain-name-valued-at-19963-no-reserve - Sold for $270

Some of the above domains have none of the factors that some of you mentioned but they do have one thing ... PERCEIVED VALUE by the bidders and ultimately the winning bidder! Most of the domains I buy, sell and develop are aged, have no pr or backlinks, etc etc but have appeal because they target certain niches/markets that other businesses, entrepreneurs, domain buyers and web developers are looking to target therefore they have a PERCEIVED VALUE which is guided by factors unrelated to the domains actual stats in most cases, such as their finances.

I've had people who bought domains from me tell me that they would have kept going on if the price kept increasing for as long as their finances allowed it. It's the same reason big companies pay millions of dollars for certain domains yet those domains have no stats to back up the price paid ... they paid that much for what they PERCEIVED the VALUE to be of that domain once they put marketing (dollars and/or legwork) behind it.

Now this is not to say that domain stats have no value or that all domains with no stats are worth something. It's fine line you have to walk in buying domains and knowing which ones are winners and which ones are losers. I've been buying and selling domain names and websites for 9 years now and every year things change in the markets and you have to change how approach the game with it. Initially when I started I lost my shirt more than I profited. Through those experiences I've learned and become better at picking winners so I've managed to lose my shirt less and profit more these last few years. Also no one should expect to become a millionaire from buying and selling domain names unless they come upon a rare domain with significant value. Anyway hopefully you get why I questioned the comments.

Actually, you should do the research on what backlinks the domain had before you got it or see if it was penalized. It's worth more than $10 though. An 8 year old domain has possibilities, meaning you can blast it and it won't be penalized(don't slam me for this, i've tested it already) and possibilities means $$$.

Actually it's not for sale on Godaddy because I bought it on Godaddy right before I posted this thread and it officially dumps into my account on New Years.

I'm not selling it, as mentioned I bought it on Godaddy right before posting this thread. Maybe in the future I'll sell it if I decide not to develop it but my focus is on my other projects.

Yep exactly! But I don't think I'll be doing that though. As is this domain is worth a few hundred in my opinion because it's a generic term for a hardware component for computers. It's aged so I could throw up an affiliate site or even become a retailer for Blu ray disc drives if I so desired and rank fast for the keyphrase in no time. That would generate good revenue but that's time I don't necessarily have at the moment. I'll go as far as offering it to small web retailers on lease and generate recurring income that way ... now that maybe an option to consider.

I would say go ahead and start sending links to it. Maybe have an SEO provider give you a quote.
