My own prolonged illness has made me almost a disabled, but even then I am trying to get back to my once normal life. I feel like a dead person now, more than that... I feel I am a dead useless weight on this world, but I am trying hard to get over that feeling, not get drown in it. 

I am also not looking at the darkest part of this night... I am looking forward to the rising Sun that's just hours away. I keep awake to make myself useful once again, first to myself and my little family, and when I regain my full strength, to my bigger family that is spread all over this world. The illness has not broken me a bit in my soul, though I have cried a lot not at the death that I could clearly see, but for the lost hours while I lay in bed... not able even to move my limbs.

Death of a working mind is the biggest job loss that any one can suffer...

I shouldn't be telling this to any one, but I felt the need to. Thanks.

I'm not interested in a conversation for entertainment purposes. That's why God made porn. I am attempting to crystallize into replicateable language a common and shared belief between the Producers for the single-minded purpose of effecting permanent (into perpetuity) change, no matter what the cost.

It's becoming rly entertaining stretching to comic depending on the paragraph you're reading. The topic is so complex that ppl way smarter than folks on this board of any faith and philosophical creed around the world have been busy fine tuning the proper theories/laws/regulations since the industrial revolution. The idea of work (and all related concepts) keeps changing as the philosophical and practical implications of work change: for instance the "automation" at large right now (read paper news every once in a while) and relatively to the growth outlook of it is something that for the first time had to be taken seriously into account and needed to be reckoned as a threat to the paradigms of the past. Why "a threat"? Because nobody knows if there's a way out this time. In other words it's not necessarily guaranteed that the technological advancements in some fields will NECESSARILY have positive consequences (as some simpler minds seem to always imply, god only knows why) at this stage, and nobody knows if in the future there will be a reason to put ppl at work in a lot of areas that employ thousands of workers instead of, hmm let's say AI machines..

Of course there have been (qualitative) examples of this phenomenon even in the past, but the magnitude (quantitative) of changes is expected to reshape the world of work as we've known it in unprecedented ways. So this thread could have been summed up as "Folks don't be lazy and get some fucking shit done", like OP mostly does and that's great. Doesn't cover all the individual, peculiar cases, but it's simply a "best practice" we all can agree on, right? That would have been appropriate and very true. Safety net - what the government does is not spread a safety net. A safety net's purpose is to save somebody from a fall not to become a hammock where he sleeps. Then again, the social system is not built by the government as a safety net but as yet another control system and at the same time a mechanism to make money disappear. Obviously they don't pay for it, the other people do. They do however manage it and make the money disappear. How does the money disappear? Is simple, they manage the money => the money goes where they want. As usual it is a money+influence flow game.

I do not point a finger at somebody who uses the system to his advantage. Maybe he's weak and lazy. Maybe he has a bad period. Maybe whatever. I do have a problem with who enforces this onto me, however. Communism in my country had a pretty good approach. I do not stand behind communism or any other ideological current, however the approach they had I think is pretty fair. It goes like this: you find work by yourself and you get a job and you work to support yourself. If you don't it means you will become a parasite and a potential danger of becoming a robber or somebody who affects others in a negative way. If you did not found work by yourself, then we will give you work and you will have to work what we give you, regardless of whether you like the job or not. In other words the system guaranteed everybody has a job and can support himself! You had the choice to find whatever job you wanted but if you were a whiner who said "i can't find a job" they forced you to work whatever they wanted. In practice the work they sent you to was horrible, but then again you had a choice to pick and time to look for a job before they did that. Obviously in a "capitalist" system that does not fly. I use quotes around capitalist because today's systems are not pure capitalism. Pure capitalism would mean loss of social control from the government over the masses.

Oh, and if you think there aren't parasites who abuse the social protection system, let me give you THE example:
