Ok I agree that I dont know too much about search engine optimisation 'n all this stuff. BUT, why the hell those services are soo expensive?? Does it takes months or ages to seo a site ?? Do you need to invest that money to successfuly rank his/her site ? The content you need for a search engine optimisation is so rare ? I really dont get it ... !!

I think because things change so much that one needs to keep studying this and hence the higher costs.

Among the factors:

1. Google's constantly changing standards

2. Man-labor hours involved in manually performing services

3. Excessive demands asked for concerning results (e.g., "guaranteed first page ranking")

4. Multiple components or skill sets involved (kw research, content, layout, off-page linking, trick tactics, etc)

5. Consultant/maintenance ongoing services may be part of the assignment (clients ask for a high-ranking site to stay that way)

Yes.

And you're paying for a service that's ultimately going to bring you consistent profit.

That's like the textbook definition of "investment."

Dunno why it's so difficult for people to wrap their minds around. An SEO company doesn't care how much money you currently have or if you can afford it. If you don't have the money, they're not going to do work for free so that you can make a profit later on and hope that you pay them. It takes a lot of time and work, and if you don't have the money for it, you shouldn't buy it.

U must learn what is SEO first, then when u know what the heck is it, then u can see the clear picture of SEO.
U can get cheap SEO service from Fiverr. Many gig offered SEO services there. Good luck.

Thought of the day : why people said SEO is difficult ?

Ultimately I think you get what you pay for. I've tried a lot of cheaper services that are absolute garbage. the most expensive service i've tried turned out to be the best one and brought me profits month over month for a looooong time.

Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself.

What 'higher costs' they need ?? They need nothing or almost nothing...

"Google's constantly changing standards " how about those services -> that are promising you that they offer updates-proof seo ?? They aren't affected or to less by those changes! "Man-labor hours involved in manually performing services" If a process to work to a site to optimise it would take over a month, then I would understand but maximum a week pfff....(bitch please :D ) "Multiple components or skill sets involved" Thats what Im asking. Its that really really HARD to do it ?? So hard like learning half a programing language ?? o.O

@zebrahat said that seo is difficult, so it is or it is not ? Also will I make that money bacK ?
Do it yourself - You'll find out why.
I will try to see whats all about!

seobook offers a service been around for awhile but many will think $300 a month is a lot of money yet they will spend easily on junk food.

I am not experience with seobook services but in the grand scheme of things if your return on investment is positive then it is positive right?

Ok but its not a MUST to be expensive just to be good. Like I can go now ,practise, be the best with best results , open a this kind of service, because I have big results I could increase the price but instead I can make it cheaper so cheaper+better would result awesome amounts of clients, instead of just have 10 clients for 100$ I would have 30 clients for 60$ or more...
Excessive demand
But you'll loose clients if you make a higher price just to make them to leave to have less demand , then putting and telling them to wait less because of this demand. If your service is promising and good and ppl know will work, then they would prefer to wait rather than leaving you !

Allow me.

What 'higher costs' they need ?? They need nothing or almost nothing... "Google's constantly changing standards "

Keyword research costs. Press releases cost. Graphics cost. Content costs. Pad submissions cost. Tools cost. Citations cost. Monitoring websites and analyzing their competitors costs. In time or money.

A quality service will certainly be better at weathering the changes that come and go. Fly by nighters work cheap and promise the moon, and go get fiverr blasts. Quality providers are more expensive, unless you find a "guy" or "girl" to freelance for you.

"Man-labor hours involved in manually performing services" If a process to work to a site to optimise it would take over a month, then I would understand but maximum a week pfff....(bitch please :D

Actually it may take months to rank for competitive keywords.

"Multiple components or skill sets involved"

Graphics creation, keyword research, market research, social media integration, onpage SEO skills, back link building, citation building, content creation, reputation management, copyrighting, design services, functionality testing, for a start.

Thats what Im asking. Its that really really HARD to do it ?? So hard like learning half a programing language ??

It's a good deal harder than that because everything is so fluid you must constantly test and adjust. A language you learn once, and you apply it. SEO you learn gradually, and live a life of tweak and test. Then Google changes shit around and you have to test and adjust what you just finished testing and adjusting even more.

o.O @zebrahat said that seo is difficult, so it is or it is not ?

Parts of it are simple, parts of it are hard, low competition is simple, high competition is hard, low traffic is easy, high traffic is hard. High targeted traffic is a blue-eyed bitch. Simple content creation is easy, quality SEO articles with headings, focus, and LSI's are hard. Quality back linking is hard, spamming backlinks is easy.

Also will I make that money bacK ?
Oh fuck yeah, many times over, if you do it right.....

Seo is expensive because its difficult, simple.
Also, the more whitehat your methods are, the more expensive it gets - for example the difference between spinning articles for web 2.0s and making real web 2.0s with all unique content is a massive difference in cost.

Blog roll links from fiverr vs sponsored links on high quality low obl (<10) sites, etc.

So Seo companies generally will cater to a certain customer and a certain requirement, and the cost (should) reflect this.

Depending on your requirements and your budget will dictate where you go and how much you pay.

Pretty much said it right there. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I can just say the opposite. SEO became much cheaper than before. Otherwise go to ppc route with a deep pocket and be prepared for an insanely expensive learning experience.

SEO + PPC or gtfo. If you aren't doing a solid campaign with both, then go dig a hole and hope gold is in it.

It comes down to the same nugget as any other service/product. What is it worth to the client

A leaking tap that costs me a 5 cent washer to fix is nt worth a $65 call out for a plumber, But that same $65 is a complete bargain when he's coming out to fix the central heating in the middle of winter

If an MFA site is only ever going to make a $1 a day then no most ongoing good seo servcies are not worth it

If a keyword can make me a $1000 a month then a $600 a month in seo services is still a good deal
