I just got my account suspended, apparently we're not allowed to promote our own sites? What did you do to get around this?

Had some problems with the theme but was able to figure it out... thanks to Azguru for the suggestions.

Got my primary framework done - working on a little more theme hacking and then I'll be ready to go full force into populating the site. My Wife will be doing alot of the product research and verbage, I'll just take her work and pop it into the site and publish them. Then after a couple of weeks, both of us will start using stumbleupon and a couple of fake facebook accounts to push the traffic. Let's see where we can take this...

It was my stumbleupon account, I even asked for an explanation and they told me im not allowed to promote my sites. And they said don't ever apply using another name again lol.. I might have made a mistake in getting my account as my website, companies need to pay for that.

Not sure if those really help or not cuz I've never tried it. I doubt their effectiveness because they are not real users so if your pages suck, all it will take isa couple of thumbs down to undo those likes. If they boost traffic to your StumbleUpon Pages then go for it.

If you mean THEME... that's been answered by a couple of us:

I use ThemeFuse writer for a few sites and set the homepage as the full width gallery like such:

The upside: it's a very upbeat, fun looking theme that is great for showcasing products. Also, it's available somewhere in the download section of this site.
The Downside: You Will have to enter each product manually because it is not an e-store theme

To the others reading this - the theme is already avail on BHW (here)

I heavily modified the theme to provide what I felt would be the best experience for my viewers - but it can be somewhat used right out of the box... at least create some unique graphics though so that it's not just the same as every other site with that theme.

Yeah there wasn't a theme that got it all. I had to customize the theme to my liking. It's a bit difficult but if you know how to tweak WP, you'll find something.

Yep, same. I have been creating similar sites like that since then and I have some sites that run on nothing but StumbleUpon traffic. It is a lot easier then doing SEO work for them

I've already got one general site that my Wife and I are populating with cool and interesting products and once we get a good amount loaded in, we'll continue with a smaller number of daily products... and we've already got 2 niche product sites planned. One will be loaded up and once that reaches a good number of products, it too will get just a few more each day while we load up the 3rd. Once we finish loading up that one, then each of the 3 will receive the daily number.

Of course, each day we'll be sending Stumbleupon, Pinterest and FB updates.

By the time the snow boulders gets rolling for the 3 sites, I think we'll end up doing pretty well... but of course, we've got to start them off with little snowballs and push them along.

Haven't started the Stumbleupon yet... will be starting that in a day or so. I want to have a good base of products before I start the marketing aspect... so in a couple more days I'll be there and then start pushing with FB and Stumbleupon.
