I emailed support but it seems you answer this thread quicker. CS has been full of problems so far for me.
1. CSSE says port 80 is allotted to another program and then crashes. I did netstat and nothing is using port 80. I sent the detailed error message by email.
2. Now my DeathbyCaptcha does not work after I installed captcha sniper. Even when Captcha sniper program is NOT turned on, DeathbyCaptcha does not work anymore.
So basically, I can't solve any captchas with captcha sniper, and even if I could, captcha sniper kills my external service (DBC) even when not in use. FML.
Solved my second issue by removing captcha services from hosts file as they were resolving to localhost. Any time I want to use / not use captcha sniper I have to edit the hosts manually. Because many platforms use recaptcha so CS wouldn't be suitable for that. However CSSE is still not working for me. I uninstalled it anyway as I tried to get my DBC working again.
Hmmm... lets see, your email was sent at 5:23 AM CST on a Saturday. You then posted on the thread at approx 8:40 AM CST ... So let me get this straight .... what kind of turn around do you expect? You waited all little over 3 hours for a response and that warranted the comment above?
First off, please read the users guide thoroughly, it will help you tremendously. Also during that three hour window, perhaps you should scroll the last few pages of the thread and see if some of our comments would help.
At any rate, you are using a clearly labeled BETA version. 1.4 is our STABLE version. Both work very well, however we are still putting the finishing touches on 1.5 to address some issues found on certain systems.
If you are having problems with 1.5, simply dont use the CSSE portion of it or use 1.4... its the exact same.
To answer your question, no you dont have to edit the hosts file each time, CS and CSSE do that for you. Apparently somehow one of the apps (CS or CSSE) was killed and didnt get a chance to clean up your hosts file, which is why all of the redirects were still there and DBC was resolving to localhost.
Also, check to make sure that CSSE is fully closed (taskmgr) and not running in the background. Please let us know if we can be of further assiatance. Our support is top-notch and you wont get a quicker, better response from another software vendor on BHW... I can guarantee that
