Hey Experts
I'm newbie in SEO and I got myself into it because I wanted to start a blog using wordpress on technlogy/internet/gadgets niche.

Keenly following discussion over here and studied various SEO blogs. They all basically cover on-site SEO.
Do blogs need offsite SEO? I mean how can you create backlinks for each blog posts.
What to do to optimnize your blog so that if someone enters a short/long keyword, your blog comes first.

I request you all if you have time please drop our 2 cents on this topic and what to do to get traffic from seach engines.
I know no tricks about off site
Please help

Offsite SEO is very easy to do and its not rocket science. It deals with back links building and you can do that through forum posting.

What if I over do and google detects me as a spam, is there any tool for that??

If you place the links on Home page as permanent it doesn't move to inner pages as compared to normal blog posts. So if you want traffic try permanent blog posts.

I've done lots of hand (ie not automated bookmarking) and again and again Digg comes up on searches of my posts keyword. Push digg for a starter

You can simply ping each of your blog posts if you really are worrying about off-page seo optimization. Another thing, you can also link to your blog posts by blog commenting, instead of the homepage.

create RSS feed and try to get more and more subscribers for you blog and your every post will promote automatically..

The most effective links are in context links that you get from articles particularly if they're from private high PR sites. If you have the budget I would join build my rank who have a quality network although it's time consuming. If not try some of the networks on BHW.
