Hi guys,

I want to set up a site within my chosen niche where users can create profiles, search other profiles, send messages all for free BUT cannot read messages until they have paid a subscription fee?

Anyone any ideas of the best script or theme to use?

Many thanks.

I'm also creating a membership site, but mine is free. I hear that Wordpress has membership plugins.

I'm quite familiar with wordpress so that would be a good way to go.

Do you know of any plugins worth checking out which would do what i'm looking for? I'm currently looking at buddypress.

*BUMP*

Can anyone help on this one?

I've tried a lot of membership plugins. At one time i coded my own using standard apache security

I now took the plunge and spent some money (gasp - horror)

Wishlist Member --- beautiful - I currently have six membership sites running on this

Earlier this week I found a free membership software called "MembersGear". I took a tour of the live demo, and it is actually really complete.

From what I can tell, it looks to be better than EasyMemberPro, and on par with, or close to Amember.

The catch is they they want you to purchase their add-ons, such as the WordPress Plugin, the phpBB forum plugin, the Aweber plugin, or pay them to install the software on your server. However, these things are not necessary, and you can get a really nice membership software for free.

I use wish list on wp. Works great but no affiliate option

I use digital access pass. Has EVERYTHING I need and then some. Highly recommended.

Wish list for WP would be great. Though as said before, you'd need a secondary affiliate program if you need the affiliate side

for wordpress you could try the membership plugin from wpmu dev or magic members which supports the magic affiliate plugin ;)

both are pretty powerfull..

hope it helps.

cheers...

What free script to use for a non wp website?

Thank you

Is amember pro the version you guys use? Know of anywhere to get it for cheaper?

Awesome responses. Thank you very much. So here comes the question... you guys are sayin' that using wordpress to build a membership web site system it's the way to go. But i dont know how to deal with WP. I dont know how can i, for example, customize my lay out so people cant see it's made on WP. I have the logistics to be a pro. So i'll do things like a pro,no matter what.

Could you explain how WP works when it comes to membership web sites?

Thank you very much,

C.G

I have best idea for Membership system... Hope you can check your PMB...

Nice thread. I'll need a solution in the near future.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Depends on what you want your homepage to look like too.

If you are going for the sales page type thing or a video page then s2member plugin is a pretty good all rounder.

wishlist and amember best of the rest but $$
