I know there have been "what are the best SEO tools" however perhaps this is slightly different...

Requirements:

  • KW research
  • Onsite SEO analysis
  • Rank Checker (inc local search & ideally automated reports)
  • Competition analysis
All of this data needs to be output in a simple report style that a non-tech, local business can understand.

Has anyone found the ultimate tool or suite of tools? One-off payment software or subscription!

Thanks

PS. looking at
Link Assistant
Wordtracker
Bright Local
Web CEO

just updating on a couple of online tools I have found useful so far an may be of help to others;

http://www.brightlocal.com/ - great for USA, Canada UK reporting & checking. This would probably be my tool of choice if it covered Ireland

http://www.rankace.com - handy toolkit for all countries; the annoying thing for me was that they separate "global" from "local" in a way which means if I want to monitor results from Ireland I need to purchase "local" (for "map" listings) and "global" for .ie position

http://www.link-assistant.com/rank-tracker/ - still unsure about this; tempted, however I'd really want to go for the full Enterprise....it's not just about the money; it's about the learning curve; the above two tools are extremely simple & actually have more useful features for me

The rank tracker in the SEO Powersuite spits out some nice looking rapports for rank tracking and on page analysis.

Cheers

What exactly are you looking to offer the local business, more SEO type stuff or more placement for business listings?

I have IBP and Rank Tracker. I didn't think RT was that hard to learn. IBP on the other hand, makes 70 page reports that are very overwhelming for a local business.

I'm liking the RankAce & BrightLocal for simplicity but probably gonna opt for Link Assist Enterprise & move all my activites to one software (currently use MarketSamurai a lot).

What do I offer? SEO & local seo; so kw research, onsite analysis & regular rank checking (also for google places & local search) are required...if it can automatically find the clients, build links & citations and make me toast that would be a bonus ;)

The OP and this thread illustrates the point that someone needs to create a tool that generates a simple report.

I have RT, MS, and IBP, and I already decided that the reports they generate are useless to put in front of a local business owner (my clients). Some of my clients barely can use Google, and some of them did not even have a website until they met me, because "I don't understand all that web stuff".

STicking a report generated by one of these tools in front of them will just turn them off.

we need something created by a developer that subscribes to the 37signals school of thought of software design.

i would need such tools for german

badly there is nothing available :(

Ive been looking also, I think you can create your own custom reports in Rank Tracker but I haven't really dug into that yet

You can use a couple of tools together:
KW research,Competition analysis-Semrush
Onsite SEO analysis-Website auditor

My favorite,as far as client reporting is concerned is a site called MySEOTool. Basically you can forward a domain to your own unique branded url, and then give your clients their own logins. The rankings are updated daily in Google, Bing, and Google Places, and you can hook it up with analytics, social media, yahoo site explorer, and setup a calendar if you want your clients to see the monthly schedule. It also has an On Page Optimization checker which could be useful. You can even limit what your client sees, if you only want them to see certain sections of the backened.

It's $50/m for 10 sites, or $100/m for 30 sites. Definitely worth it, as it automates everything. I used to use RankTracker, but this is much more effective.

Places Scout, does exactly what you need plus a lot more. It's also a one off purchase with lifetime updates.

I like Web CEO myself, if you haven't already checked them out... here's a link to their comparisons between "WebCEO, SEO Elite, IBP, & SEO PowerSuite"
Code:
http://www.webceo.com/seo-software-review.htm
And here's their WF classified ad thread they created to promote v9 which they released in August I think, you can see alot of different questions asked/answered about it here.
Code:
http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-forum-classified-ads/438459-web-ceo-9-discount-offer-40-a.html
They also have a 14day unrestricted trial so you can test drive it firsthand. 14days not long enough? As it's an unrestricted trial, install it on a VM and take a snapshot.... at the end of the 2wks when it expires.... restore the snapshot you took when you first installed it, and continue to use it 2wks at a time :D

I like seo powersuite as well as advanced web ranking. AWR is expensive but works good and its a one off purchase.

ive just had a look at their site and it looks very tasty. couple of questions i have:

1. how does the forwarding to a unique branded url work - is that a subdomain of theirs, or....?

2. what/which data source are they using to check backlinks now that yahoo has gone and are you satisfied with the results?

also the option of a 30% discount if you pay 12 months upfront which makes it the equivalent of just over $2 per month for each site if you go for the 30 sites version. the online reports look great and appear to be much easier for clients to read than the typical seo reports that come with the big seo monitoring softwares. 'no brainer' as the saying goes.

your thanks button has been hit for alerting me to this service.
