Hello... I currently have a niche that I'd like to target - I've been going through a lot of keyword tools and so far I have selected 195 keywords in one niche - which are all showing as low competitive on google keyword tool, they all have more than 1300 local searches per month for the USA and they all have more than $1 CPC. I'm just not sure how to check for which of those keywords I should really try to rank at least in the beginning - as in which really have the lowest competition?

My plan is to outsource unique articles and then build seo with senuke and other tools and some outsourcing...

Is there anyone that would show me a very good tutorial or software or would just go over the list and help me out?

You would be well served by building a site with all those KWs on an inner page.

Each KW with their own page an backlink each page individually.

You'll get a lot of traffic for the various pages as each will rank for you... I do that with all my sites.

While I agree there is no reason not to go for all of them I really see no reason to put a lot of low comp keywords on separate pages. What I do is put them in groups that can comfortably go on the same page. and then see how many articles you are going to need. Start with the ones where you get the most bang for the buck and then add the others.

Basically my rule of thumb on how many keywords I can put together is can I add them to an article without it sounding stupid or forced. If I can than I group them together if not than I separate them out to another page.

For example I have a page about Red Cars I can easily put the following keywords on the same page.

Red Cars
Fast red cars
fast red cars are cool

Basically you just covered three keywords with one set of words. With some smart writing you can easily fit multiple keywords on a page if they are closely related enough.

On the same page you could also have

slow red cars
slow red cars suck
slow red cars suck a lot

So while red cars is the main keyword of the page you can add those long tails to the article and rank for them without all those extra articles.


I bet if you do a search for a lot of those easy long tails you will find a lot of the ranking sites do not even have an exact phrase match on the page. This means if you have the exact phrase on the page and give it some good backlinks for that phrase you should rank fairly easily.

Search here on BHW for the method to keep extending the trial and you'll be able to use MS for free. I always try to get my best 2 or 3 keywords on my homepage, and then build out from there with your secondary list, that way you have good anchor text for initially building home page links. Once your homepage is indexed you can start building deep links to your posts.

The competition in the Google Adwords Keyword tool is absolutely worthless for SEO. The only way you can tell the competitiveness of a keyword is by looking at the front page of Google and seeing your competition. So many times the Google Keyword Tool will have a low competition but the front page is dominated by sites like Wikipedia, Amazon, and other big name sites (which you will have no chance at ranking). Download the SEOmoz toolbar and click the SERP overlay button. This will show you the # of links to all the websites on the first page along with their domain authority and page authority.

I've been using market samurai before as well... but what would you suggest to put in the settings to get better results? to take only those who are with really low competition ? If there is something that will show me the stats with software instead of me going through 195 links and checking all the front positions of google - would be nice...

I am now interviewing some people on oDesk regarding cheap spinning

Check how many pages list for the same keyword, if its anything like 5k and under trying for it, go ahead and proceed.

You can export those keywords to .csv (from AdWord Keywords Tool itself) and it will give you a numerical competition score. This way, among the 'low' competition keywords, you can see quantitatively how low they actually are.

What I like to do is then divide that score by the local searches to get a... sorta economic/relativity score of competition to traffic.

I agree, even though you may not rank high for all of those keywords, you will rank somewhere. Not to mention, make sure you have good interlinking in your site and you should see how your site traffic and page ranking are affected.

I have to agree with the guy further up the page who recommends grouping the keywords in appropriate groupings and seeing how you can go from there. If you can hit up a lot of the best keywords in one article then you can really maximise your traffic from search engines. It can also allow you to use the seemingly less useful keywords in an article where the base keyword is something more popular.
