Been away for awhile due to immense studying on my cadaver.

However I STILL get frustrated with scrapebox crashes involving extracted internal links that break the process. These are links that include charaters like [] and (), {}.

Can't we get some sort of addon that would filter these urls out rather than having to load up all our lists and replace them via MSword. Because my lists crash MSword when trying to paste them in.... lol

You can put a list of the characters in a .txt file and save it off and then use the "remove urls containing entries from"

Worst case you can use the text editor built into scrapebox under tools, its much more powerful for this type of thing then MS word, and it has some handy functions.

Yo dude, I activated SB on my laptop for the third time now, nothing happens. Sent an email to support a good week ago, no reply.
I'd like to transfer my license to my laptop..

I'm really frustrated now!

Now-a-days SB has become a heck lot unstable. Every time I go out to comment, SB crashes after a few thousand URLs.

Any solutions?

I don't think scrapebox has "become" unstable, I haven't seen anything in the update notes that the poster code has changed in some time. I posted to 20 million+ urls last week without issue. Most lists I run are 200K-500K and no issues. I can't say it never ever crashes, but no more then it ever has.

What is the error when it crashes?

if this is your first transfer cant see why they wouldnt
do it, either your doing something wrong or u have
exceeded your transfers. 1 a month ?

It gives the default Windows crash error that goes something like "ScrapeBox has crashed". And gives 3 options to "Close and Check online for a solution", "Close the program" and " Debug the program".

That must be something else, maybe your AV or something like that. When ScrapeBox would crash, it would popup the internal crash report tool. Maybe any other "security" app kills it?

Well, I have no security app other than the Microsoft Essentials, that I've been using for a long time.

Any possible solutions?

Did you try "Remove urls loger than xxx character"? Maybe there some bad urls between.

I would remove any url with more than 500 character. But it does not mean it solve the issue, its just an idea, because a lot of people mentioened that they had no more problem after doing that.

@matrix - just a couple thoughts/questions if you're still having probs - I'm running SB and not encountering what you are, so...

First, if you haven't already done it, maybe try creating another, clean instance of SB on your computer, reset the new instance to the default settings for everything. Then launch it, try a similar operation with the new instance and see what happens. Maybe one of the program files or a config setting got hosed in the instance that's crashing.

Perchance are you commenting to sites that use unicode? Just a shot in the dark, I have no reason to believe that SB's unicode handling is flaky, just throwing the question out there.

Thanks for your reply. But I think it was the long URLs messing up. I removed everything over 250 chars, and did a blast, and it went fine.

Will report back with any errors in the coming days.

Ummmm...there might be a way to do it, but unless you are in as a sysadmin or the like on the school's network or have a really good relationship with the powers that be, my guess is they will not enjoy having you sucking up bandwidth and using a tool like sbox on their network.

I would assume he has a laptop. I live in a college town with 40K students and everyone I know has laptops.

Anyway, regardless, scrapebox has security in place that forces the licensing to work a certain way. There isn't a way to circumvent the schools network and make scrapebox still work. They would have to open up the network for scrapebox to work, and they aren't going to do that, else they would lose their security. So unless you are an admin, or you are Very buddy buddy with one, then your out of luck.

I find the Outbound Link Checker plugin extremely memory hungry. It may have a leak or it may be so coded, but it grows out of proportion and crashes. To give an estimate, on my windows 7 machine with quad core and (only) 2 gig of ram, a list of 10k urls loaded in the OBL checker will result in a process that's about 1gig in memory space. I believe this is something Sweetfunny could have a look at. Thanks!
