Joomla or Wordpress? Your professional opinion needed!

Hi,

First of all, I know that there are many threads like this one, but none of them has offered serious answers to me or other members that are dealing with this same question. That's why I'm posting this one, willing to get the right answers.

Which platform is good or better for SEO, Joomla or Wordpress? Please explain as detail as you can.

Does joomla actually give the same or better results as wordpress ?


I've started working on a SEO project a week ago, as most of the members here i started on a wordpress platform (recommended by most members)
But since I've been working with Joomla for a year now i know pretty much everything about it, and the thing is that I'm getting really dissapointed from Wordpress. I'm missing many options, design or posting features. All the designs are so similar and static. Posting options are limited and confusing.

My personal question is: Should i continue my project on joomla ?

I look forward to see opinions from people with experience and people that are doing SEO professionally. We don't really need opinions from people are happy with wordpress but never tried joomla thinking it's too complex or similar.

Give us your professional opinion and experience.

I hope u read my post I'm asking about SEO, not social networking, e-commerce or simplicity.

It's the never ending discussion and you are not going to get a objective answer.

I haven't seen any test, where one of the two platforms where significant better from a SEO perspective.If you ask in a Joomla forum will they tell you Joomla is best and if you visit a Wordpress forum... well

Joomla 1.5 was really bad, if you didn't use a "sef" module. Joomla 1.6 is a lot better but I still advice to use a seo plugin.

It basic come down to what you are used to work with. It's quick to setup a WP site but it takes a lot of time if you really want to optimize onsite seo. And the same goes for Joomla.

But most Joomla templates have a good seo structure that I don't see in WP templates. I always start to modify the basic codes in a new WP template to optimize the onsite SEO.

Thank you. This is what i call a professional opinion. As I continue reading other forums and personal opinions, much of the latest joomla templates made by official joomla template design companies, have a really good seo structure, or i like to use the term, SEO Positive. Many of the plugins can be found free now, and many of them are even included in the 1.6.

most of our clients are using wordpress for search engine optimized so I think wordpress is better.

I personally use Wordpress. It's really easy to use and to set-up. There are a lot of themes out there for Wordpress and loads of plugins.

I think you should go with the one you are experienced in. So in this case Joomla.

I used both and I think Joomla is waaay more complex than WP. Also I like how WP can be changed into a robust page by just installing 4-5 plugins and changing the theme. So static look is only for blogs/niche sites. If you check any bigger WP pages you'll see how many features you can add to it.

WP all the way. Not only are there tons of free SEO plugins that cover everything needed for good SEO, but even a lot of the free themes have SEO modules built into them.

I have a joomla site and here is what I can tell you -

HUGE problems with duplicate content, duplicate pages once you start applying any extra stuff and plugins. I would love to change now, but its too late - my site has over 11K of pages and about 1500 is in google by now. Dont want to risk it....

Ok now, I've been doing some little more research and i have a conclusion for all of you.

Although I love all the design possibilities and posting simplicity in Joomla. When it's about SEO, Wordpress is the way to go!

Trough the years, indirectly or directly wordpress has been well optimized and simplified to be a great platform for SEO projects. Many extremely useful and helpful plugins that are available free for wordpress, are no where to find when u need them for joomla, not even similar ones. There are no duplicate content problems with wordpress and even if they appear, there are plugins to solve your problem.

I'm continuing to work with wordpress.

I ranked Joomla and Wordpress sites to,i believe they are the same...all depends about on site seo made by you,content and of course link building..

I have been working in both joomla and wp for last three years.. Joomla is very good for complex sites. If you are just blogging go for wp.

For seo, wp is better
