Having said that. Sites that convert best are those that look like Google SERPs. Blue text top and right on white background. When visitors come in they didn't intend to be there so they will usually give 3-5 secs before deciding if if they will interact with your site. Here is the trick: very frequently they do 2 things: click the back button or click on an adsense ad to go somewhere else especially if the ad appeals to them. The ad is very familiar to them so its a natural impulse.
