I took the time to call Google today and wanted to ask them why my Adwords account was suspended. The lady on the phone told me the reason my account was banned was due to "direct linking" to clickbank landing pages. She also stated that each Adword account can only be promoted for one url. There can be no affiliate links on the website that I'm promoting from adwords on my website? She said I can promote my own product on my website though.
My question is what the hell is Google doing?
When did they implement these standards?
If Google is anti-affiliate does that mean if you have a website with clickbank links on it, you will be pushed down in the serps?

That's new. I haven't used adwords in a while but they never had a problem before taking my money and direct linking to affiliate offers.

If they don't like affiliate marketing then i'll not let them make money off my user experience. I enabled ad-block plus. :P

As for adwords account getting deleted for direct linking that rule applies for quite some time. You can instead create a landing page on alternate domain which ultimately links to offer page. This way you can get around this limitation.

That's new to me as well. Never had any problems promoting Clickbank products via Adwords.

That's good to know. I wasn't aware that they changed this. Before you just had to make sure that you used the domain as the URL that shows where you're linking to.

You used to be able to direct link.

This is not new, 6 months ago I was banned Google Adwords. But they lift the banned once I contact the representative. They does not like direct linking whether the domain you use is redirect to affiliate page. Yes, if possible they want us to promote our own product. The best thing to handle this matter is using squeeze page to collect emails and promoting using autoresponder such as aweber.

Just my 2 cents.

The money spent on Adwords is better put into SEO my friend.
Adwords is a maze with no exit.

I stopped adwordsing long time ago and this standard looks very strange. 1 link per account? That's pretty much seems like BS..

And as a side note - Linking directly to clickbank's landing page is something I would strongly advise against... Expect very low conversions rates + Many vendors steal hops.

Hope per hop is not good.

Even making a review page that then links to the vendors site does not always work. I had a review page in the weight loss niche that I was using adwords to promote. Worked great for the first two months and made me about 500 each month and then google banned my adwords account. You can see my thread about here - From Bad to Worse

Edit - I know in the thread it says I managed to get unbanned by google but it doesnt mention that a month later after doing everything google asked of me and jumping through all their hoops they banned me again for no reason and even after showing all the steps I had taken to make them happy they wouldn't budge. Like Bross said above me - You are much better off spending the money on SEO work as if you are not an expert on adwords it really isnt worth the effort. Well that is my experience with it anyways.

The same money could be better utilized in other PPC networks like Facebook Ads, Bing, Bidvertiser etc.

I didn't direct link, I had a reference type website and they said I had too many re-directs and said I couldn't run that campaign. The guy helping me said he took it as far as he could but his supervisor wouldn't let him. I just wanted to try my $100 gift card...Anyone know an ok number of outbound links that MR G would be ok with?

I got banned for the same reason. What the hell are they doing???? They asked me to modify the site but I coudn't coz that was CB products and I do not own the site.

You advertised in the Google Search Network? Big mistake. Just avoid it. Use the Display or Content Network and you will not get banned.

I advertised in the Search Network before but it's ok. Is this a new policy of Google?

this is so funny ; when I am checking your signature :chicken_w ; you made my day lool

It is not official. But Google's main concern is the search network. There they will sometimes randomly ban advertisers

so finally it's happening. They start getting rid of affiliate ads because they now get more and more ads from the big companies?

I am sure it does happen but I never met anybody nor have heard of cases where somebody was banned using the Content Network
