DAE See Major Article Site Rankings Drop

Lets say you want to rank for a new site. Just go and examine top 10 sites.

Can you tell me how you will judge which backlink is holding good value in your eye and which backlink is holding good value in google's eye. There will be tons of backlinks. Really no big deal :D

I wish seo would have been that much easy.:p

You look at all the sites ranking for your terms and terms related to those. Your first move isn't to analyze their backlinks, your first move is to try to get links from THOSE SITES. These will be extremely valuable.

Then later on when you've moved on to analyzing their backlinks, you'll have to do a lot of estimation and guess work.

Well, everybody does that.

Here comes the hit and trial method. :)

But mate somebody mentioned, its not a big deal so was wondering about that

Well, everybody does that.

I'd have to disagree with you there. Tons of people (maybe most) start promoting their sites doing article submissions, directory submissions and commenting on shitty blogs rather than going where the real link juice is in their niche, and then they complain about why they're not ranking.

Does it matter? If the link is not hurting your competition, it will prolly not hurt you. Remember that pokemon thing? That is the spirit here. You gotta catch them all!

Disagree for what friend. I never told thats the only method of seo. its a method which everybody knows and is mentioned in every wso ebook. To be honest there is no such pin point method to rank #1 in google. You need to work on various link building stuff, and stick to the ones which works good for you. Google is such a big dog that it wont let you settle to one strategy, with google's changes you have to chage your seo strategies. And honestly, Seo Strategy of every webmaster is not the name, it varies from webmaster to webmaster.

No it wont hurt but i was pin pointing to something else. :)

Ok guys a little update.

I was ranking #2 for my keyword. My ezine article and squidoo was ranking #4 and #5 for my main term keyword too.

Now today when i checked i was ranking #1. Site which was ranking #1 went to page 2. My squidoo lens went to page 2 too.. cant find my ezine on top 10 pages of google. Thats just one example..

cant find my other ezine or article directory articles on page 1 of google. They use to rank well.

Others having similar SERP changes please update it here.

now G is just overdoing it... it was something that wasnt required... they practically cant show relevant results for every word in the world... if someone searches for Babalubabsi will they have relevant results?? :p ...

I think article marketing is still a relevant way of getting backlinks to your money site. However it does seem the srticles on the articles directories themselves are not doing to well.

Anyone do a lot of promotion on Yahoo Answers and notice any changes in rankings?

Amen to that...

I'm glad the game's changed...make it harder please. :) Good news for those that know how to check what's working and replicate and leave the crowd of copy-paste marketers behind.

We just have to examine the top 10 sites and do the same. No big deal.

I just don't understand this. I operate an ecommerce site... Why would any of the sites that are already ranking for my keywords (my competitors) give me a link?

That's a different situation then. You've got to look elsewhere, or in related but non competing keywords.
