Why was this site penalized?

My friend recently had his website - paradisesonline - completely disappear from the Google (not completely, it still ranks for it's domain name though).

It used to be ranking for 'resort getaways' and 'hotels luxury' (in Australia at least). Now it's nowhere to be seen for these terms.

It hasn't been blacklisted by the looks of it. Any ideas why this site has been slapped/penalized by Google?

Could it have been dodgy link building?

Google dance maybe, how old is it? Happen to me before and it came back with stronger ranking.

If it doesn't come back within 2-3 days, then it's the famous sandbox.

This means that it could take weeks or a few months for the site to return to its position, however, within that time a bunch of competitors could have taken over the spot.

Domain Age is a big factor, and this is why now I buy aged domains, or use aged domains that I own to build backlinks to.

Domain Age is the KEY. (6 months+ is domain aged)

It could be because of the SB run or A+P links.

If it doesn't come back in a week, you will need to login to Webmaster tools, confess your sins to Google and hope they are merciful.

I think what happens more often is that a bonus has been taken away

Links from bad neighborhoods are the most likely cause....

Spam links, are ones you need to stay away from. Its about quality not quantity, remember that.
