[Journey] Building AI content sites for SEO ($1600 MRR) — A Software Engineer's perspective

Nice work. That content-ops setup is exactly how you scale. How do you keep 22k+ pages fresh without burning quality? Any tips on avoiding drops while staying fast?
i built a system for this

Have you tried to identify the root cause of traffic growth or decline like niche, thin content, site design, backlinks, etc.? If you figure out what works and do some testing, you can easily scale it up.

You can use multi-quote feature to respond to multiple comments at once. Just click "+Quote" button to quote a comment to your response.
I think the main thing is focus. When I create new sites and really focus on them — the homepage, structure, footer, header, and so on — they tend to perform better.

What analytics software do you use?
it's Google Analytics

Also try to find out , why other sites failed.
This helps lot of people here.
One things: expired domains not working, i try lot of them and all failed. all working sites is brand new domains

what is the affiliate platform you used ? if you dont mind. you journey is inspiring as i am doing the same from last 8 years using AI full pipeline created by me as software engineer for different niche actually but working well.

Damn, what data do you use to fill 20k pages with indexable content?
i did it in early of journey, so only LLM + prompt.

Nothing to hide, i'm using Getyourguide. Very happy to connect with you.

Just launched a new site. 3 days in: 27 clicks, 5.9K impressions, avg position 12.7.

You just let the pages index normally or do you do anything else special to get google to index ur content faster?

Normally, I don’t do anything external; I just submit the sitemap and use IndexNow.

But what are your posts about? 20k blogs is a lot of content
I can’t tell you exactly, but with programmatic SEO, we can actually generate millions of articles.

Did you use the GSC account for all of your sites?

Incredible numbers, man! 28M views is a massive feat. My journey is a bit different though—I’m a Software Engineer as well, but I’m building as a direct importer of luxury home fixtures from China. My focus isn't on launching dozens of sites; it's on building one high-authority powerhouse that defeats 'thin content' by design.

While our end goals might differ, my entire strategy is leveraged on tech built for ultra-fast, dynamic scaling. I’m essentially creating a 'digital factory' where:

1. JSON-Schema Strategy: I leverage deep JSON-LD and Schema integration as a guarantee for indexing and rich snippets. It’s not just about text; it’s about structured data that Google trusts implicitly.

2. The Edge Architecture: Everything runs on Cloudflare Workers. My hosting costs are basically $25 USD a year, even with aggressive pSEO. The site speed is honestly near-instant.

3. Advanced Workers: I’ve built custom workers for humanized rewriting and automated interlinking, allowing me to scale to 15+ cities and 150+ product variations without losing the 'premium' feel.

4. Local to National: I’m dominating my local city first to build domain age. With a $250–$500 backlink budget and this technical foundation, the goal is #1 nationally.

I honestly think that combining your expertise in massive traffic and ML with my architecture for high-conversion, zero-cost infrastructure could lead to something huge.

I’ll leave the link to my journey here so you can see the technical breakdown of what I’m doing:

Really appreciate the transparency here, especially the GSC data. The drop from 1.7k to 500-600 clicks/day on Site1 is a familiar pattern with large AI-generated sites — Google tends to do these rolling partial deindexes where it keeps ranking the "best" pages from a batch and quietly drops the rest over 60-90 days.

One thing I'd be curious about: on the pages that held their rankings through the dip, did you notice any structural differences compared to the ones that dropped? Things like internal link depth, page word count, or whether they had any user-generated signals (comments, CTR from GSC).

Also switching from Gemini to Claude is an interesting move. Claude tends to produce longer sentences with more varied structure which can help with the AI-pattern detection side of things. Would be good to hear if you see a difference in rankings for the newer Claude content vs the older Gemini pages once you have enough data.

I had a site similar to this. Different niche that earns me over $3000 worth of stuff just from a single site. But I have forgotten since it's all were managed and automated with OpenRouter models. It was a one specific niche and product. But a few days ago my hosting company (it was a cheap hosting company as that was one of my testing projects) and the site went down and is gone. I still own the domain but all the content is gone. I am building it back for a better hosting company. I contacted Bluehost and no reply. Sucks! As I spent some decent credit on Claude models at OpenRouter for content.
