Do YouTube Shorts Still Help Grow Long-Term Channels?

I have been using Shorts to grow a YouTube channel and noticed they bring views quickly, but I am not sure about long-term impact.

Sometimes Shorts views do not convert into subscribers or long-form viewers.

So I wanted to ask:

• Are Shorts still effective for channel growth?
• Do they actually help long videos perform better?
• Or should beginners focus more on long-form content?

Yeah, Shorts still work, but they’re kind of a different game. They’re great for getting fast reach and testing ideas, but the audience they bring doesn’t always care about long videos. So yeah, a lot of views don’t convert. From what I’ve seen, Shorts help most when they’re connected to your main content like teasing or clipping long videos. If you treat them as separate content, growth can feel “empty.”
