ITT: Feeling Generous. Answering CB Questions

Like everybody else, I would like to thank for great cb information, which I found on this thread ;) I had just finished to do all work for my first cb product and requested clickbank approval, however I would like to know that type of promotional material you would suggest to add into my product affiliates page to attract more promoters, currently I have:

-468x60 banner
-Ebook cover picture
-Keywords list (~600 keywords) and short list of main PPC websites
-2 sample advertising email leters
-Articles directory list of ~50 most popular free article directories

Thank you in advance for your recommendations :)

More banners, a customizable report (currently working on that for my newest launch right now :) ), more graphics, articles, an email series to send to their list, etc.

Look at successful CB products' affiliate pages and see what they are offering there and then offer the same to your affiliates.

i wanna start clickbank...do u know what's the best Clickbank guide ?

is newbie workbook good enough ?

Code:
http://www.mediafire.com/?vhud24ruzj0
or Google Slicer is better ? (it's like Gsniper)

Code:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mjney3n5zdt

THX :)

Sorry, I've never read either of those. An oldie but goody that I read a while back that gives the basics on product creation is "InfoProduct Mastery" by Ryan Deiss and Jimmy D. Brown. It should be floating around somewhere for download. It's geared more for product creation than promotion but will definitely give you the basics on how to get up-and-running creating your product quickly.

I'm sure there are many newer products that are great for learning how to promote CB products successfully out there that I've never even heard of. Would someone else care to share?

Hey gonzomcribbinz,

Hope you haven't abandoned the thread :)

I have few questions about testing strategy (as an affiliate)

Let's say I have setup a presell page to promote a CB product. When I start sending traffic to it, how should I go about testing?

1) Split test headlines
2) Split test content (short vs long)
3) split test number of and placement of links
4) split text different themes (maybe)

For each split test, I need to check how many people subscribed to my optin and how many sales I got.. right?

Sorry if all this sounds noobish but I need to know what kind of statistics I need to test. If you can point to a good resource, I would be be grateful.

Regards

No problem, bud.

It really depends on what kind of pre-sell you're going with. Are you going with a "review" pre-sell for one product or multiple products? Are you going with a "news" type layout?

Whatever layout you are going with, you'll want to test just about every different function at least for every 500 to 1,000 visitors or so. That includes headline, links (image and text), layout, button style, etc.

When you switch something up for testing, say...your headline, leave it for a set amount of unique visitors. I like 1,000. So you switched your headline color to red and let it run for 1,000 visitors. Mark down your total conversions (whether a conversion for you is an opt-in or a click-through to the sales page) and then switch the headline to something else for 1,000 visitors.

Don't drive yourself crazy testing, but it is good to test at least 3 different variables of the major stuff (the stuff you listed) until you get it pretty well dialed-in. A good place to get inspiration is to look at other pages that are working well in similar niches and start with what they are doing (not blatantly ripping them off, of course) and use that layout as your base template and go from there.

@gonzomcribbinz and Mr ex - cheers for all your help ---

I have a few simple questions -

- when you promote a product via CB do you use a landing page /site dedicated to teh product or a blog with daily posts and other products ?

I build a mini-site around the product (or niche) that I'm promoting pretty much exclusively UNLESS I'm "reviewing" several products in the same niche. If you're on the fence about which way to go, try "reviewing" several products in the same niche first to see which converts the best and then after you've got a winner, switch it to promote just that product.

what do you think of I pad related products ? is this a winner or over hyped ?

look forward to your responses cheers

I think that Apple itself has done a terrific job of over-hyping the iPad and if you can profit from it, go for it! I know at least one fellow BHW member has an iPad-related product and he seems to be doing well with it so you may want to give it a look here.

It won't let me write my question!

Edit, oh so THAT worked!

Let me see if I can write it now.

Say if your niche is wood and your main website is wood, is this page devoted to the sales pitch only? Or would you have articles/blog posts on there as well related to wood?
Or would these articles in fact be in the background, wood / articles, gathering the traffic and directing it to your main page?

Thanks

Double edit: I really hope you can understand where the 'urls' are supposed to be in that question and how I tried to lay them out. Stupid thing wouldn't let me post ANY variation of a url at all.

Tripple edit: Seems after all that you answered a very similar question just above me >.<

I've been putting in some crazy hours over the last couple months in order to wrap my head around the big beast of internet marketing. I even got a site to pr5. But out of everthing I've read so far(and that's been a ton) this thread is the best..hands down. It's worth it's weight in gold. Really. I was starting to get discouraged, but after this thread, well....I'll just push forward.

Thanks Gonz

Im trying to learn Click bank, but I have a blog up right now and I am getting some articles written but basically its just going to have an optin form and on every page a widget to the ebook with the price on it.

Do you think that is good enough

Pm me for a link to it.

Not a good method for several reasons:

1) No matter what all "the gurus" say, article marketing is NOT a good source of traffic to rely on. There are always exceptions where people say "Oh, I get 10,000 visits per month from an article" but these instances are few and far between. I use it for backlinks and chalk up whatever traffic I get as a bonus. I want MY SITE to be found in the SERPs at the #1 position, not EzineArticles. But that's just me.

2) You're not collecting any opt-ins. Any traffic that doesn't immediately buy is gone forever. It's your traffic, capitalize on it for as long as possible by getting the opt-in. You never know, just because they didn't buy that one product you initially sent them to doesn't mean they won't buy another.

3) You're not pre-selling. I dunno about you, but I'm very weary of basing my entire business and income on the conversion rates of others' sales pages. I like to be in control as much as possible. That means that by the time I send someone to a sales page, they've already read my opinion on why they should buy it and how I think it will benefit them the most. This puts them into a "do want" frame of mind even before they hit the sales page, which then can do its job of closing the sale.

Hey Gonzo. Thanks for creating this thread. I have learnt alot too I just found it and read through all four pages. I would like ask, as you stated in the above quote, you do nnot recommend article directories to get traffic to your product. May I ask what other ways you do use to get the traffic to that particular market? Do you only use PPC or do you create keyword sites and blogs?

Basically how do YOU rank to get your traffic?

Thanks

UPDATE: Actually hehe, I just found the answer. It was on the first page I just forgot about it reading all the other stuff, BUT you can add a little more insights if you wish.

THANKS AGAIN. ENJOY YOUR DAY.

Thanks so much for creating this thread. I have a little success with CB but I still have SO much to learn. Thanks again!

Hey Gonzo,

Thanks for all the great work on this thread, it really answers some of my questions about info product creation. =)

Hi Gonzo,

Thanks for this great thread, it should help even those who have bewn a bit gun shy to jump it. Thanks for your time and help.

Gonzo,

Thanks for the thread and inspiration. I have been wanting to jump into CB, as I am a developer, but wasn't sure how to do it. This post was exactly what I was looking for even though I know I was looking for it.

Have you ever used crazy egg to visually track where people actually click on your pages? We use it for our online course reseller site and it shows you a lot about your traffic. We were surprised when people would click on words that were not even a link, then we would add a link to them and see more conversions. It shows you a lot about the psychology involved in web marketing such as people expect a search box in the upper right and where to place the optin form as you have suggested here. Also gives insight on whether words like "enroll now" or "register now" work better or even image link or text link.

Thanks again for the great post, now I can use some of those domains I thought of while drunk or on the crapper like iknoweverything info! hehheh

Hey,

I've been reading that promoting IM books, software and stuff like that isn't a good idea. Except you really know what you are doing.

I know some of the strategies for clickbank and would just want to hear your opinion about something I'm thinking of. Basically I want to create a very limited clone of a certain software. I would create a website with reviews for the affiliate product I want to sell but will create a basic free software which users will get if they opt-in (somewhere in the sidebar or a popup). Like the free few page review of the product if they opt-in. I would then promote the affiliate product using the email. I could just promote my products too but I think this would work great with clickbank. When they will download my software they will see it's useful but it will be very limited so some will want more. I can then also "spam" my application with the affiliate link. For example popups every few minutes.

- Have you seen anything like this before and if you didn't do you think it might work?

Thanks for the awesome thread

Gonzo, thanks for your input to the forum!!!

From your experience, what is the best way to get traffic to your landing page?? Even I have sites that ranked at the first page of gxxgle, they didn't get much visitors. And I have tried article marketing and blogging, it is kind of a hard work to get tons of visitors not mentioning the conversion.

Do you have some tips that can share with us???

Thanks!!!

Since you directed me here, I'll ask you my questions here

I'm trying to promote "Vinny Del Monte's Muscle Building Program."

I've created two Squidoo articles thus far. I've read about doing many things, but I'm not sure which things are most effective.

Can you suggest 5 things I can do?

Thanks in advance.

Sure.

1) Stop wasting your time on forums. You're not being productive by reading endless threads and ebooks.

2) Decide how you want to get traffic. Articles? I don't advise it if you want to see results quickly. Videos? Sure, it has a learning curve but with persistence you can figure it out. PPC? Fastest, but you'll burn through some dough in that niche before you start seeing profits. SEO? If you knew what you were doing, sure. Whatever you decide, don't just drop it the minute you don't see results. Figure out WHY you don't see results and attack it again. And again. And again until you do see results.

3) Figure out your strategy. Are you linking directly to the sales page? Or are you setting up a review site to link to first? Did you even read this thread? I'd bet money right now that you didn't because if you did your head would be swimming with ideas to attack.

4) Test, test, test.

5) The 5th thing is really good and I'd love to tell it to you, but I just can't. I can't bring myself to do it. It made me and a buddy of mine over $12,500 last month alone in Clickbank sales and ordinarily I wouldn't even bring it up but you DEMANDED that I tell you 5 things so I'm telling you ABOUT this SUPER SECRET 5th thing...but I'm not going to tell you what it is.

Sorry. Them's the breaks.

Awesome thread Gonzo ..... I greatly appreciate it ... by the way ... there are always a binch of people that discourage people to share ... but you keep straight with your intention Gonz .... thank's a lot ... really help

I picked a market with 4 successful clickbank products, I built a review page with information about them, buy buttons and a pop up opt in, all in wordpress. My question is how do you track which visitors are joining the list down to the keyword or traffic source? Is it a wordpress plugin?

Also you mentioned Thesis, I love Thesis as well. Do you use a highly modified version of it for your clickbank affiliate sites and if yes, which modifications do you recommend?

If there a tool out there to find the affiliates currently promoting a specific clickbank product? I would love to see what they are doing to promote the product like websites, ppc campaigns... basically to get an idea of what's currently working....for that product.

Hi, you've mentioned about testing, split testing etc., I'm pretty much a newbie so I'm wondering how do you do that? You create separate pages and then you run each by a certain amount of time and see who converts better? Or you create both pages then promote each and then measure the results? Anyway I've been reading a lot of your posts and I certainly enjoyed them. Thanks for sharing man :)

P.S.
I've read some of your posts in this thread and you're really good at creating good copy! What book would you suggest to learn from? Thanks again!
