Hey BHW,
I recently worked on a project that gave some interesting results, so I thought I’d share the full journey here for discussion purposes. The website was completely new with DA 0 and DR 0, and barely any backlinks in place. The goal was to improve its authority metrics quickly but in a safe and sustainable way.

I started with a complete backlink audit to make sure there were no toxic links in the profile. Once I had a clean base, I began building links from high-authority, niche-relevant domains, focusing on sites with real traffic and a good trust profile. I kept the anchor text natural and diversified, mixing branded, generic, and keyword-based anchors in a balanced way. Alongside the link building, I refreshed and optimized a few key pages with relevant, high-quality content to give search engines more signals about the site’s topical focus.

The process was spread over 20 days to keep the growth pace natural. By the end of this period, the site’s DA had moved from 0 to 30+, and DR jumped to 60+. While DA and DR aren’t direct ranking factors, they’re useful indicators of overall backlink strength and the trust a site is building. I also noticed an increase in crawl frequency and organic impressions, which was a good early sign of the improvements taking effect.

From this experience, I’d say the main lessons are to always start with a clean foundation, focus on quality and relevance over sheer volume, and pace the work so it looks natural to search engines. It’s a reminder that with the right approach, significant authority gains are possible in a short time without cutting corners.

That’s the breakdown of what I did — curious to hear how others here approach building quick authority in a safe and effective way.

That’s an impressive achievement in such a short time, really shows the power of solid SEO strategies!

You can change the domain DA within days to the desired number.. it is a useless metric.

Also, DR 60 is super high... with 20 days, you did yourself a disservice.

what exactly did you do here? Most people, when building sites, optimize the pages before making the site live, but by how you phrased this it sounds like those pages weren't optimized until then, so what exactly did you do to optimize them if you don't mind me asking?

focusing on sites with real traffic and a good trust profile
yeah, that's the trick nowadays...

I kept the anchor text natural and diversified, mixing branded, generic, and keyword-based anchors in a balanced way.
and this has been being the trick for a decade now :)

Also, balanced way how?? Like, what percentages are we looking at for each type of anchor?

focus on quality and relevance over sheer volume, and pace the work so it looks natural to search engines.
yep! And congrats on the success!

Also, boosting the DA from 0 to 50 is not hard, lots of people are doing this for $5 on Fiverr and the alikes, but boosting it in a natural way that yields results... now that's the real thing :)

Good advice that everyone should take into account since... forever.

Congrats on the results! A DR jump that fast isn't from typical link building.

If I'm not wrong, this was almost certainly achieved by 301 redirecting a powerful expired or auctioned domain to your new site.

Perhaps, that's the only technique that injects that much authority instantly and causes metrics like DR to skyrocket in a matter of weeks. It's a classic and very effective way to jump-start a project.

Great share! That DA 0 → 30+ and DR 0 → 60+ jump in just 20 days is seriously impressive — especially keeping it clean and natural. Curious, were most of the links guest posts or niche edits? And did you track any early keyword movement or just impressions & crawl rate so far? Would love to know how things evolve after 30+ days too.

Appreciate it!

It was actually a mix around 60% niche edits on aged contextually relevant pages and 40% guest posts on fresh sites with clean outbound profiles. I tried to keep anchors mostly branded / generic during the initial phase to let the authority settle naturally.

I didn’t push for rankings immediately. Main focus in the first 20 days was indexing rate + crawl frequency + trust signals. However, I did notice some early movement on secondary keywords (nothing major yet, but visible in GSC under “discovered but not indexed” improving to “indexed and appearing intermittently”).

I’ll be posting a 30-day follow-up update soon once things stabilize a bit more.

If you're testing something similar, would love to hear your approach as well.
