I am 22 year old web developer. I've learned everything by myself, watching tutorials and building projects. I have more expertise on the frontend side, but I know backend aswell, but just not as good as frontend. I can also make wordpress sites, aswell as using headless CMS with payload. I've used the last years just improving my skills and building projects for fun, but I havent't made any money from it. Is there any good way to make money. Doesn't necessarily have to be just web development, but my skills are mainly web development related like react, nextjs, typescript etc.

If you're a full stack developer, then you should definitely try Upwork and not even look towards Fiverr. That's because Fiverr has a lot of issues, and secondly, the revenue there doesn’t match the amount of work you're doing. So my advice to you is to join Upwork and put in the effort there. You'll earn on an hourly basis, and as far as I know, you'll make much more that way.

I have been trying upwork for like a month now and don't really so a lot of progress there, as I have been hitting up clients aswell. Maybe I just need some patience and wait for them to contact me? You have any tips on freelancing on upwork?

I think developing is dead. Because ai is developing everythink. Only you have to know how to use prompt. So maybe you can change your department. For instance, maybe you can look WAF(web application firewall) or bug bounty. Because many company need good cyber security engineer for preserve their system. Perhaps you evaluate this

You may try even here to sell your service but upwork will be proper platform to sell development services as is a well know marketplace for these types of services

Freelancing is never solid they are paid less then normal workers.
You can go solo as well with your own projects, nothing wrong with it, or work on github for free for open source projects, even if you are unpaid in first, bigger projects really make your portfolio look great for later hires.
Don't forget to make your page on github, or do small tutorials on youtube boosting your projects or learnings, all these makes up for great signals for hiring teams to hire you in there company.
