I agree, on the left sidebar there should for example. Social Media category which you click and it shows Reddit, Instagram that you can press to instantly be in there, because now you have click marketplace and scroll the way down.

I don't think the thought process is terrible but it is well past my knowledge base as to even if that is possible.

Implementing filters in the current Marketplace would be a really difficult task to program and include. As for the left side menu - each section is limited to a number of items that it could include - for the Marketplace, that's 10 items. All items are based on a popularity score and not randomly included.
Marketplace 2 would have this completely sorted out - all sorts of filters really - reviews, closed products/services, review copies, etc. So, that's something to look forward to in the upcoming future.
