Hi everyone,
I've been deep in the SEO and CMS game for a while, and I’ve started to notice something interesting — and maybe even controversial.
Over the years, I’ve seen Joomla sites consistently outrank WordPress ones, given similar effort. Same goes for OpenCart vs. WooCommerce — OpenCart stores often seem faster, cleaner, and better indexed out of the box.
I’m not saying WordPress or WooCommerce are bad — they’re popular for good reasons. But could it be that Google actually favors less bloated, more structured platforms like Joomla or OpenCart? Especially in competitive niches?
I’m opening this thread to explore this idea based on real experience, not just theory.
Have you noticed something similar in your projects?
What do you think — is Google silently rewarding these “underdog” platforms in SEO rankings? Or am I just seeing patterns where there are none?
Would love to hear your thoughts.
Cheers!
