Previously: SEO = SEARCH engine Optimization

Now it is : SEO = SEARCH EveryWhere Optimization

Search Engine Optimization = get higher rankings on Google, Yahoo!, Bing, maybe a bit of DuckDuckGo and AOL.

Search Everywhere Optimization = influence audiences in all the places they go to consume content about your topic.

SEO is still there :P

SEO, SEM, SMO... doesn't matter what you use... it all comes down to branding and getting recognised and trusted.
That's why it's important to use as many channels as possible... even optimising the content for ChatGPT and yes, I get visitors from there.

Definitely, the evolution of SEO reflects how user behaviour has changed. It’s no longer limited to traditional search engines. Optimisation for visibility now includes social media platforms, voice search, app stores and AI-driven feeds like Google Discover. It’s all about meeting users where they are.

Exactly! SEO used to mean just ranking on Google and a few other search engines. Now, it’s about showing up everywhere your audience is—YouTube, Reddit, TikTok, forums, or anywhere people consume content. It’s still SEO, just evolved. You need to be where people search, not just on search engines.

Precisely, that was my point. Thank you.

Thinking about optimizing for search everywhere actually makes a lot of sense. People are finding information on so many different platforms now. Focusing just on Google feels really limiting.

Totally agree- Modern SEO is all about being visible wherever your audience is searching, not just google.

If we've evolved to going outside of search engines for optimization, it means we're no longer locking ourselves into a focus on search engines. A is not B. We should be calling the new digital marketing Everywhere Online Optimization, or EOO.

Why do you want to change the term? We’re already familiar with SEO—‘E’ stands for Everywhere now, not Engine. So please keep it as it is.

Aren't they all search engines? Except the viral content without proper titles or description, the optimized content always relies on SEO. We still need to bother about what users are searching for and cater to them. However, the strategies keep changing as most people on these platforms (except youtube) don't search for informative content. At the end of the day, we optimize content for search engines so that our result shows up ahead of others.

Well said! SEO has truly evolved—from just optimising for search engines to now meeting users wherever they search for information, be it social platforms, marketplaces, or even voice assistants. It’s all about visibility across the entire digital ecosystem. #SearchEverywhere

You're spot on, SEO has evolved. It's no longer just about ranking on Google but also being visible on platforms like YouTube, social media, and even voice assistants.

This 'Search Everywhere Optimization' means creating diverse, high-quality content tailored to where your audience spends time.

Traditional SEO is still important, but expanding to multiple channels is key for modern success.

The new SEO is no longer just about keywords and backlinks. It's about understanding user intent, creating helpful content and optimizing for AI driven search engines. With features like zero click searches, voice queries and Google's Search Generative Experience (SGE), businesses now need to focus on Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and semantic content structure. In short, modern SEO is more about relevance, clarity and user experience than just ranking tricks.

With AI everywhere, the search has changed a lot. But things are still changing and unless everything settles down, there is no point is discussing the terms. AI answer engines aren't creating content, most are just pulling content and presenting it in their own way. Since the presentable answer via. AI isn't static so one can not optimize for it but that too will change in time.

The digital presence is very important while marketing product or brand to your consumers, This is evolving every certain period of time, so to survive in this industry, we must consistently improve ourselves and stay informed about what the market actually demands

New SEO focuses more on user experience, quality content, and intent rather than just keywords and backlinks. It’s about adding real value and adapting to how search engines understand people better.

Yep, SEO has evolved big time. If you’re only chasing GG ranking, your missing traffic from all these discovery platform. Search everywhere is basically the new normal, especially with social video going nuts.

Because we're not frequently even talking about 'searching' anymore as the basis for optimization. If we're meeting people where they are, we're no longer looking for them, since we know where they are. Search implies we're going to central place (like Google) and relying on it to get visitors. AI, social media, discovery etc are arguably not search based forms of marketing. Optimization now means optimizing whatever method you're using, so we should call it something different.

Yes. SEO now means getting seen on Google, YouTube, social media, and voice search. You still need good keywords, links, and fast pages. Also optimize videos, posts, and voice snippets. A multi-channel strategy wins.

I have noticed the same shift in my own projects. It’s not just about ranking on Google anymore visibility now includes places like Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn, and even in AI results. I've started focusing on optimizing content for multiple platforms where the audience is actively searching. SEO still matters, but the way we apply it has definitely expanded.
