Hi BHW,

We’re currently dealing with a major issue of ad fraud in our Google Ads Search campaigns. Competitors are using residential IPs to generate fake clicks, with a new IP for every click but the same user agent. Since they’re using local residential IPs and never repeat the same IP for multiple clicks, IP blocking isn’t an option.

Right now, about 90% of our clicks are fraudulent, which is completely destroying our campaign performance and budget. We’re looking for an expert who has experience with this kind of issue and can help us find a solution.

We’re willing to pay well for a working solution, so if you’ve dealt with something like this before or have a proven strategy to stop this kind of fraud, please reach out!

Cheers,

Well known issue and there is no solution for it. Beware of fake gurus posing they can fix this for you. They cannot. The only thing you can do is eye for an eye in this situation.

There is a solution for everything iam sure, can pay very good for a solution

I deal with this type of problem without worry, mainly there are two things that work:

1. Identify which competitor is practicing click fraud. Then contact them - this rarely works because it's difficult to identify
2. Counter-attack: Use the same type of bot, and click on its ads - in the long run, they'll have the same cogitation as you: abandon their click fraud technique, since it's working against them.

As for point 2, I've done this for quite a few people, and it works in 90% of cases, it's very effective. You just have to use it intelligently.

but the same user agent
Same user agent ? Report these clicks to Google Ads, showing that the clicks are from the same user agents.
Google does review claims of click fraud and can issue credits for valid cases.

How do you know what bots they're using?

Do you work with an agency? If not do you have an account manager from Google? What are you selling, can you show ads only to people that never visited the website? What type of campaigns are you running? Usually at what hours you get the clicks? Can you schedule ads? Enable "Invalid Clicks" from Columns and check how manny there are daily.

I don't understand why people still believe that useragent is a unique thing....in reality It's not unique after chrome introduced placeholder for useragent. So last 5year at least all chrome useragent will be same except core version and device type, but they are indentical too according to their type. Please don't go in wrong direction like useragent.

I am not sure it is possible to prevent it. It is a major problem in competitive industries.

Hey I know this is the only solution. So can you me with This?

Hello mate, there is no way to provide a solution without analysing a problem. if you can provide more eleborated information on the campaigns performance. we will take a shot at fixing it for you.

Note: We are not selling you a solution but helping you to fix it.

Hey man,

Yeah, this kind of fraud sucks—been there. If they’re using rotating residential IPs with different IPs each time and the same user agent, you're basically getting hit with a botnet or some kind of click farm using mobile proxies or 4G/LTE IPs. IP blocking won't do much, you're right about that.

Here’s what you can do:

First, stop relying on Google’s built-in click fraud protection—it's not gonna catch this level of abuse. You’ll need a third-party click fraud detection tool. Something like ClickCease, CHEQ, or even custom setups with fingerprinting tools. But to be honest, those only go so far when it’s this aggressive.

The best way to cut it off is by using a pre-lander or intermediate redirect page and putting your real landing page behind some basic filtering logic. Use JavaScript or server-side logic to detect bad behavior—like headless browsers, odd timezones, no mouse movement, copy-paste behavior, etc. Anything bots struggle with. If something looks shady, just bounce them or redirect them somewhere else. That way they don’t hit your real landing page or cost you conversion data.

Also, keep an eye on your ad schedule and geo. A lot of this stuff happens in weird bursts—track patterns, and if certain regions or times are worse, cut them out temporarily.

You could even try switching to manual bidding and controlling your placements better, or pausing Search entirely for a bit and shifting some traffic to Display or Performance Max if it’s less targeted by the fraud.
It’s fixable, but you’ll need to layer a few things. You won’t beat this with one tool. Happy to chat more if you need help with setups.

Hope that helps, and good luck—don’t let these losers eat your ad budget.

If they do it right then there is less what you can do. Else google will refund this clicks later. Your post is 3 months old. Any update?

Refine your targeting to exclude certain demographics or locations that are generating a high volume of fraudulent clicks.
