Yea im switching to ipower soon
Well, I'll forewarn you all. I've been a member of Ipower and hostgator for a few years now and in two days time. Here's what happened with me in this mass error " inode " email.
First off, Hostgator has sent that by mistake due to a support manager that had the responsability sent it to a list of customers on the general lists. After my responding the the support team at hostgator, the same person handling the list, an exec. super over support, took it upon himself to cancel my accounts without my opting to cancel through their system and told me " Enjoy your new hosting service, whomever they may be."
His name is Tim W. and no longer works there according to the general staff supoervisor that called me on the complaint.
Now, as far as ipower, I've had a domain name from godaddy transfered over to ipower and the tech support team i ntheir registar dept. took it upon themselves to do something simular as the hostgaotr tech did and closed my support ticket, filed it as resolved and " KILLED MY DOMAIN TRANSFER WHILE IN MID_PROGRESS ", wich naturally, ipower management can't explain how this happened and offered their sincerest apologies.
Both of these companies suck. I now have my own hosting servers and paid an arm and a leg for an icann license to run my own domain reg. services so that I don't have to risk being our of control of my sites and services anymore.
Furthermore, FYI...Hostgator has hidden this " inode " cap article in their TOS, which is actually breaking a string of laws and consumer rights... False advertising by selling a quota of space in a paid plan and capping the user from ever reaching/consuming that full limit of disk space, under any form is a direct violation of that by offering pre-paid services with access to less than full product/service potentional due to restriction of service.
Then, another example of the consumer fraud is the fact that under the U.S. ferderal consumer rights act, any company alterations to a paid service must be revealed in writing to the consumer purchasing said product/service in writing via postal letter or validated account email. It's the LAW...heh.
These assholes have tried to get around the issue by hiding it in the TOS and making a minor post response on their forums once someone got their account closed due to it, completely illegally, based on the concept that TOS is " subject to change without notification. "
My attorney said for me to inform them of the legality issues and that if Brent, the owner of hostgator didn't alter that , we'd have a law suit claim on the federal level...heh. The supers couldn't stop kissing my ass enough.
These people think because they are on the internet that business isn't still business and doesn't apply to them. WRONG!
Heads up...I'd stay away from both places.
As for moving originally from godaddy...I'm tired of paying $18.99 renewal fees, which is just a waste of money.
