I was referred to this thread by another member, this isn't true. Each 10TB Midphase Dedicated Server is on a 1000mbit connection to the network switch, each switch has a 10gigE connection to the internet. You can easily use all 10TB of bandwidth we provide on our dedicated servers, and MANY clients do.

you know what i don't understand? why such a low disk space and bandwidth on VPS hosting, compared to dedicated and shared hosting.

Welcome to the forum. So what you're saying is that if all servers on a switch are pushing 33mbit constantly the uplink won't be saturated?

I hope my post didn't sound like an insult because it wasn't intended that way. I know Midphase has good reviews and SoftLayer is a great company (we are moving from our current dedicated provider to SL over the next 6 months). I just want people to understand that the 10TB bandwidth is overselling and most people won't need that much.

There was a good post discussing this topic on WHT here: hxxp://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=709974

There are a few reasons for it. Most VPS users don't need massive bandwidth and disk space. There is a ratio of system resource usage associated with increased disk and bandwidth usage. The more traffic your site gets the more CPU time and RAM it will need. VPS providers need to keep this ratio in check otherwise their systems will get overloaded.

I know there are some VPS providers offering large amounts of space but I have no experience with them.

Another hosting provider I would recommend is HostiCan.com great support and great prices... using them now for some time, both shared hosting as well as a VPS

aftershock2020, would you mind sharing with me (us) how you went about founding your own hosting / domain registration "company"?

You should also verify your Cron jobs.
When I first started at HostGator, I set up my incremental backup for every 10 minutes or so.
Since I didn't check my inbox for at least a week, I did receive an email for every time the job was done. You do the math...
