Does blog commenting work in 2024?

yes used for sub pages and tier 2 indexing sir .

Rarely do people read or leave comments these days, especially on blogs. This simply due to our general drop in attention span.
Commenting on reddit could drive traffic. But if not done well, comment could be deleted or worse, account banned.

Well i dont think its a good strategy these days as almost anyone dont read comments these days ,plus majority of blog owners must to aprove your comment to be active and i think 99 percent dont even bother to do that

On Wordpress, I don't think it still works because a lot of people put security measures to weed out spam comments which is prevalent on that platform.

When was the last time you clicked on a link in a social media comment?
If you can get a clickable link in a comment on a high-traffic social media post you may get some free traffic, but blog comments are only good for indexing and lower tiers.

The days of getting away with spamming comments are over I'm afraid. If you find a site that auto allows comments it will already be heavily spammed to the point that a link would not be desirable for SEO purposes and would never return any traffic either.
You can do it manually and really target the comments so they look really genuine and not just an attempt to spam a link you may get somewhere but it will be a lot of work and sites that allow comments are hot on moderation so a lot of comments won't even go live.
If you can find authority sites that have active comment section then that could be useful if you are willing to be active enough to get some attention, but again, this can be a lot of work. As others have said, Reddit is probably a good shout for some easy visibility, just try to add a bit of value to comments to prevent getting blocked.

Blog comments are useless for both traffic and rankings.
Don't waste your time... instead, as mentioned above, comment on reddit.

If you're looking for blog commenting where you have a keyword-based name and it's linked to a website, forget about it.
Seriously!
Forget about it.
That's dead in the water.
Whatever link value you get from that is trash.
Besides, a lot of sites do not pass link juice through that method.
Others will try to sidestep this and put the link in the comment itself assuming you don't get filtered automatically by WordPress's antispam add-ons.
Most people are gonna ignore that link if you just slap on a link.
The better approach to blog commenting is niche targeting and commenting with value.
You can't be lazy about this, and this is what makes it so effective.
Most people are lazy.
Most people want to put in the smallest amount of effort while expecting the largest outcome possible.
That's not how the world works.
If you want to maximize the value that you get from blog commenting, comment by sharing real information.
Comment in a way that highlights your expertise, and that you are a resource person.

And before you know it, they start linking to your blog because your reputation precedes you.
Of course, this takes time.
