As of January 2024, Facebook had over three billion monthly active users (MAU), accounting for 37.90% of the world's population and 60.91% of social media users. 2.11 billion users log into Facebook daily, making up 68.73% of the platform's monthly active users.
Country Statistics
India hosts the largest Facebook audience, with 378 million users as of April 2024. If India's Facebook audience were a country, it would rank third in the world by population. Other markets with over 100 million users include the USA with 193.8 million, Indonesia with 119.05 million, and Brazil with 112.55 million users.
Demographic Analysis
The vast majority of Facebook users access the social network through mobile devices. Only 2.6% use laptops or desktops exclusively, while 68.7% prefer smartphones. Both phones and computers are used by 28.7%, and any mobile device is chosen by 97.4% of users.In April 2024, demographic analysis revealed that men aged 25-34 made up the largest segment of Facebook's global user base, comprising approximately 18.4% of all registered users. The second-largest segment consisted of men aged 18-24. Gender-wise, 56.8% of Facebook users are men, while 43.2% are women.

In Q4 2023, the average revenue generated per user (ARPU) for Facebook in the Asia-Pacific region was $5.52. In the combined US and Canada market, Facebook's ARPU was $68.44. On average, a Facebook user clicks on 12 ads each month.
Reasons for Social Media Use Worldwide in 2023
A recent international survey conducted in Q4 2023 provided significant insights into the primary motives behind social media use. It showed that maintaining connections with acquaintances and loved ones is the main goal for a large part of the audience (over 49%).Additionally, about 38% of social media users rely on these platforms to fill their free time, while about 34.3% use them primarily for reading news. Notably, one-fifth of participants reported using social media due to their subscriptions to content created by influencers or celebrities.
A recent study revealed that people, on average, spend about 147 minutes a day on social media. A significant portion of this time, 33 minutes, is spent on Facebook, making it the platform where users spend the most time. Breaking it down:
