Bitcoin to reach $25m by 2050 - agree?

I think that if BTC hits $1M it would say more about the state of the USD than the recognition of BTC, let alone $25M.

I am optimistic about BTC, and I will also persist in holding BTC.

Interesting article from VanEck about Bitcoin becoming a globally recognised store of value and medium of exchange for international transfers. They have predicted a conservative price of $25m by 2050.

In addition the article is very interesting as it outlines the fundimentals of the current monetary system, what factors dictate our perception of value when it comes to existing FIAT currencies and how Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are likely to over-take FIAT as a store of value and a medium of exchange (Things we are all well aware of on this forum but its still interesting to see the same thing put into a well-researched article and by a mainstream financial company).

Over a decade ago when I first heard of Bitcoin, it if I was told it'll ever be worth $50k a piece I wouldn't have believed. But here we are.

I do think everything is possible. So yea, $25m a piece. Maybe.

Its very Interesting but it really depends on many Factors.
One of the Factors is if Blockchain Encryption is something that will still be hard to hack.

Quantum Leap can kill Bitcoin easily And eventually you need Quantum Proof Code.

a $25M bitcoin would only be obtainable with a Zimbabwe-level inflation meltdown in the US... Which would be followed by a total global economic collapse. We better all pray that doesn't happen. Your virtual coins on a screen will be the least of your concerns
lmao, why should I pray for the US economy? there is a whole world besides their borders
USD is losing space, it's obviously the king and it will remain like that for decades, but it's not the only currency being used in major economic agreements like it was in the past
it will lose value throughout the years, but you can convert BTC to different currencies, not only USD or EUR

inflation percentages are most likely going up,
but even if it reachs 10% consistenly for the next 25 years, $650K+ will be worth for the same $60K as today,
that's still a x38+ ROI for the actual worth of the funds, pretty much as getting $2.2M+ for today, still a good sum of money for most people,

that's still a prediction, no one really know how things going to be,
everyone is responsable for the risks they take

Bitcoin is a near zero risk today. The only concern is buying during the bull when it hits $130k+ then it drops back down to $80k-$90k and you're temporarily down.

It will not go to zero. It's just not going to happen. It's institutional now. The market cap is $1.3 trillion. Nothing will cause it to zero other than Earth being blown up. Not even a world war is going to cause it to zero. It would become even more valuable during a world war in fact.

a $25M bitcoin would only be obtainable with a Zimbabwe-level inflation meltdown in the US... Which would be followed by a total global economic collapse. We better all pray that doesn't happen. Your virtual coins on a screen will be the least of your concerns

Not at all. Zimbabwe-level inflation would be more like a trillion trillion $ bitcoin.

Let's use an inflation calculator.

Gold is currently 15t market cap, so let's be conservative and call bitcoin 15t. That's 11.5x the price now, so 70k*11.5 = $805k

And if anyone thinks bitcoin won't reach 15t in 25 years then good luck to them :-)

At an initial rate of $804k, with 10% yearly inflation for 25 years, that results in $8.7 million.

That's not far off $25m and this is conservative for inflation and market cap.

If anyone believes the official inflation figures, then I also wish them good luck :-)

There are multiple things in today's world causing inflation to get out of control and it's only going to get worse.

The primary reason?

Those in power do it to steal your money.

This is the purpose of inflation. It's a way to transfer wealth. Those in control of the financial system are not stupid. They know exactly what they're doing.

Why do you think property prices are going up so much? The top 0.01% are buying up all the assets, because the it's the assets that have the real value.

Not everyone is selling, and this has been a problem for them for a long time. The events of 2020 helped with this and they were able to get far more property from people, both residential and commercial.

Money is an ILLUSION. People think money is useful because they can buy silly things with it and most people need constant things, so they both sell assets and spend all their money, moving it all into the hands of the top 0.01%.

This is also why Blackrock is buying so much bitcoin. It's funny people still aren't sure about bitcoin ;-)

Blackrock buy assets.

If you still think bitcoin is a virtual coin on a screen, then.. Well.. Good luck to you. :-)

Oh why not.

I'll explain once again why something can be used as a store of value.

2 things.

1) It has value
2) It's limited

Bitcoin is limited. No one will argue this. Although if you want to.. Good luck to you (haha.)

But, does it have value?

Let's take gold. Why was it used as a store of value for so long by many parts of the world?

It's limited.. And it has value simply because you can make shiny things from it. That's it. Shiny shit.

It's not THAT valuable. It's just because most people like shiny gold objects, and gold is malleable so you can turn the shiny stuff into different types of shiny stuff.

It's not necessary for the survival of humanity.

So what about bitcoin? Baring in mind gold's only value is that you can make pretty things with it.

Bitcoin actually has FAR more value than gold. That value also relates much more to finance than any store of value ever has.

A) It's completely safe and secure. No one can steal it and you can self-custody it.

All other stores of value were difficult to store safely. How do you protect your gold? Guards, vaults.. In the modern day banks. You can self-custody, but then you risk losing it all to thieves.

B) Payment and trade.

Gold is easy to trade larger amounts, but it wasn't useful for small payments. That's why we also needed silver.

Bitcoin doesn't have this problem. You can divide it into satoshi's which is one hundred millionth of a single bitcoin. Even if bitcoin hits $25 mil per coin, 1 satoshi will still be $0.25.

You can make small payments or you can trade large amounts.

C) Mobility

Gold isn't mobile. How do you pay someone half way across the world? You can't. At least not without banks.

With bitcoin you can send someone $500 million in a few minutes if you need to.

D) Proven track record.

It has an 11 year proven track record. This adds to its intrinsic value in A-C.

So how can anyone argue bitcoin has no intrinsic value? It's a mathematical system that allows you to do the above. THAT is the value. It's not just a virtual coin with an account and a number in a database. This is what the average joe thinks. Once people realize the value outlined above they will finally get it and see why it's going to be the future.

It's not that it's super unique or there's no alternatives. There are, but bitcoin is the first, it has the track record and it's what people trust. Nothing will overtake it.

It's not going to be the crypto for day to day payments, but it's going to be THE reserve asset of the world and what everyone will use for savings.

Although the way the world is going, there's likely going to be the 99% of masses who are getting universal basic income in the form of central bank digital currencies based on their social credit score and are trading in the CDBC, then there will be the 1% who own bitcoin and other cryptos and are trading amongst themselves mostly and running businesses.

It will be very hard for those that have no bitcoin or other assets to get into that class. They'll be stuck in the CDBCs, which governments will make automatically expire if you don't spend them. Their way of keeping the economy going instead of printing money.

Wait and see and check this thread in just 10 years.

Its very Interesting but it really depends on many Factors.
One of the Factors is if Blockchain Encryption is something that will still be hard to hack.

Quantum Leap can kill Bitcoin easily And eventually you need Quantum Proof Code.

It's not an issue. No one's going to advance quantum computers to the level needed overnight. If they were able to, bitcoin is the least of our worries. They'd be able to access nukes and control the entire banking system.

Anyone who doesnt' buy bitcoin because they're worried about quantum computers may as well go and live in a cave :-)

Currently the most powerful quantum computer is 1100 qubits.

To break bitcoin you need millions of qubits.

Now this is why it'll never be a problem..

All banks, nuclear codes and bitcoin will switch to a post-quantum crypto signature.

The only reason we use the current 256 bit elliptic curve digital signature algorithm is because it's fast enough and secure enough with current computers.

With faster computers we can use larger keys.

Attackers and defenders have access to the same compute power.

A bad actor isn't suddenly going to advance 10 years into the future and break everything. Long before quantum computer advances to a level that it could break current 256 bit encryption quantum computing will be used to upgrade crucial systems.

I still don't know why people keep harping on about quantum computing breaking bitcoin. It's such a weak argument.

Sorry to say but I don’t think crypto will be mainstream even in 2050. Crypto has problems. The biggest problem it has is that the govts don’t like it, since they want to control the currency as well as inflation and so on. So nope, I doubt btc will be in millions. Heck, I doubt it will be in thousands even. The bubble will burst somewhere in between. I dunno when.

The best and the most true answer I can give you is that I don't know.
All predictions will be missed because you cannot predict inflation accurately and you cannot predict growth of bitcoin accurately too.
So $25m value is as likely to happen as $2m 495k 322 cents.

People might think that AI will program robots that will program quantum computers with 1 billion qubits. That's a fantasy they have. Just a hidden sabotage to not work and grow, an excuse of some sort, sort of like saying "in front of us there's a problem, so it doesn't make sense to ignore that problem and so we should do nothing".

Yes, that's why Blackrock is buying up billions of it. ;-)

This is one of those posts that people will reply back to in 10 years with "This didn't age well.."

OP: "Price of BTC is 407.00 usd at the moment! get em while they're hot!!"

evilclown: "Hehehe bitcoin, monopoly money."

UrsuAke: "What if tomorrow btc is 100, won't it be a better time to buy btc then?"

Ahh, classic. What if it's $25,000 tomorrow, shouldn't we wait? ;-)

Poor guy. If he'd bought $5k worth back then he would have $860,000 now, and $2 mil in a few months.

LegitXXX: "Buying right now is the worst decision you could make, on the 15th, we will see epic disaster in the price."

His response is epic. :-) Worst decision you could make. If someone had put $20k into it then they'd be worth $3.2 mil today and $9 mil in a few months. :-) Super bad decision.

People will spend $10's of thousands over a couple of decades on flavored starbucks drinks which is a guaranteed loss, but they won't risk the same with bitcoin.

Sounds so awesome, huh. But money is overrated, isn't it. You get burned out quickly if you just focus on money. :P

You do, because then you're forever focused on something fleeting.

You're forever looking in hindsight.

But, that's a different discussion. The point here is that bitcoin is a good place to put your money.

Dude blackrock is not the govt. They are filthy rich yes, but they don’t do legislation. The most they can do is lobby. That isn’t really gonna change anything. No need to believe me. Just see for yourself what happens.

To me at this point, btc is an asset class, not money. Aaand it is unregulated. I am fine with traditional stocks. Perhaps I would keep some crypto just to diversify my portfolio. But not more than that.

I wish Bitcoin replaces money. That'd be great. People would be forced to focus on providing value more, perhaps. Perhaps not. But I hope it would work so.

Sure, no refund.. Blame mathematics lol.

I would do 80% btc, 20% rest. However, I'm not filthy rich to think about spreading my net worth to investments.

I am optimistic about BTC, and I will also persist in holding BTC.

BlackRock is not the government, but the government is their puppet
By now we should have had btc as a legal tender in that case. Give me one proper country where btc is legal tender, please.

At $700K, BTC will equal the market cap of gold which is #1 asset of the world. $25m is too unrealistic. Maybe $3-4 million at max by 2050.
