Creating 100 websites with a bot, is it good for ranking?

Recently a client has asked me to create over 100 websites for different trade businesses to generate leads.

I can do this quite easily by creating a bot which changes a config file for each site and generates content for each site using AI, maybe GPT 4 or another service.
These sites wouldn't be on WordPress and instead by coded to be static (Cheaper hosting cost)

The question arises, is this good? will it rank on Google if I am to create over 100 sites with AI generated content.

The ultimate goal is to generate more clients for that business, do you guys have any advice on this?

I am from a more technical programmer/web design background, so I am still learning about SEO. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Creating a site using AI is probably not going to generate h1, h2, h3 tags, probably not going to introduce LSI keywords and probably not going to bold some of the content that would make Google smile.

I would not do that for myself nor for a client in that manner as it is a shortcut that rarely works, and even then, it only works for a short time if you are lucky.

It can rank, but content has to be to the point, facts/figures/tables, images have to be Non-AI and not from Google, will need to give social signals and some web 2.0's
then it should get indexed and somewhat ranked at mediocre positions. and formatting very important, internal links, H1, H2, and some external links to relevant authority sites, (Lately i am seeing that proper internal and external linking is becoming important way to tell Google what niche your website is about)

Bro you can try. I made 5 websites with 30k posts each, all make like 1$ a day

So its not worth the time

It's what an average site makes.

And so you'll need 1000 sites to make money.

20 cents a day x 1000 is a lot of money for something that simple.

But as basstrackerboats says, it will not last long, so there's no guarantee you will make money next month.

You might just waste money on 1000 domains.

Better try something cheaper like YouTube.

In my opinion it's not enough.

You need really great content and / or links to rank.

Not worth the hurdle. It has no value.

It's not something that'll last.

Once it's deindexed, it's all from the beginning.

Waste of time if you can't really learn some machine learning and train it, then create software on top of your model.

Money has not much value today. Look at houses prices. It's not even worth to start a journey with an aim below $100k.

And money won't be enough. You need a long term plan where you'll be able to have something out of that venture in the future. For me that would be knowledge about machine learning and my set of programs that I could upgrade with new technological advancements.

But who does machine learning and text generation? Really it's very hard to make a model say truth, and be accurate. If it doesn't go human checks, it's useless content.

Promoting false information is harmful to your environment and then to yourself as it comes back in form of problematic people.

You need to find out if it works for 1 site first and try to scale it to 100 sites. If it doesn't work for 1 site then it will not work for 100 sites as well. Because you know, zero 100 times is still zero.

Not a good idea. You can make 10 quality websites instead. Those 100 will be of no benefit.

I've been thinking a lot about what OP was talking about. There's not enough details to know exactly what he's thinking in terms of execution, also not sure how much automation he means. Like partial automation, section by section, fully automated site generation? idk.

GPT does create H1, H2, H3 tags, and it will do bold, and keyword focus, and image alt tags etc. It can do pretty much whatever HTML and CSS. But not necessarily in 1 output. I like using it with wordpress shortcodes, I have my autoblogger do basic things it can't mess up like doing formatted stylized tables via shortcode that adds the styling. There's good shortcodes for tabbed sections, JS/css F.A.Q. sections, you can even do content sliders and rich features like that.

I spent an hour one time going back and forth with GPT to make a landing page style product descriptions with rounded rectangle images and text sections with CSS and HTML from scratch, including mobile responsive aspects. ai understands pretty much whatever HTML and CSS, but is limited by output size, requires more processing than plain text.

Anyway, I was looking into doing a similar thing, but so far I've opted instead for wordpress + autoblogger, though of course I do a good bit of manual set up as well with theme and plugins and do the review pages and stuff mostly manually(also homepage header image with photoshop, and logo which I use ai for but I don't just use the first output I describe a design and keep going till I like the result.

You could feed it a static HTML/CSS full site template, and give it some image URLs and stuff, and you could get a decent homepage out of it, but it's not like it can populate with a lot of content a good 5 page site in one output. The 4,000ish token max per output with API can do individual pages ok, but multiple pages stretches it too thin, and on occasion may screw up, if they upped to like 50,000-100,000 tokens, a decent full site with navigation would be doable. Though I've pretty much abandoned/put on the backburner the idea of doing static HTML sites for now, wordpress can just do so much more.

Though, a multi-output workflow can be automated with something like Make.com(or maybe if you know python or something, idk I don't), which can interphase with different programs including GPT API, and adjust and change prompts based on information from a spreadsheet and stuff, you can potentially automate a near full workflow to do a full size small site with ai.

Though really, they won't do any good if we're talking like 5 page very basic sites, would just have 100 sites that nearly never get any real visitors.

While beyond my abilities, it would be possible to do it properly with batch outputs. In which case it would be worthwhile if we're talking like a 50 page site, with ai generating article topics(which, it can do a pretty good job of, but needs configuration).

As for the person who said they made sites with 30,000 posts and made $1 a day, I'm curious what niche. I have 28 sites now, none have anywhere near that many post, though I've had some results, so idk, I think with 30,000 posts I could kill it, like good lord, personally I think 50 decent posts with good content strategy is enough for some sales or leads, though idk if my niches would have 30,000 topics to even talk about. Also that'd cost a fortune in api credits, my 4 part articles even with 4o and 1 or 2 images still are $0.10-$0.20. Also, shit, does google not index most of it? Because otherwise, makes more sense to build a lot more sites with fewer posts if the 30,000 posts have diminishing returns vs a much smaller site with a similar domain with like 50-200 posts(sorta like what I've been doing). If it's just random ass content and no focus, then yeah, wouldn't work, but idk, sounds strange to me you didn't get a better result.

I still think there is good potential in the idea, depends on execution.

If the sites look good enough, are coherent and well organized, domains are well targeted for rankable searches, and there's good topical coverage, then yes it'd work. But that's harder said than done. 100 trash sites will do fuck all. But if you can configure it well, and each site domain and content is specific to a long tail or something yes, and I'd also be interested. I have a good workflow going, but I still need either better performance on existing sites or a lot more of them to get where I want.

The real value I see in this (and what I've been working on of a smaller scale and also, not like fully automated, again not sure what level of automation you want vs how much hands on configuring you mean) is making tons of sites with exact match domains for low competition searches. Not with the goal of tons of visitors, but a trickle of ones very targeted.

Also, if the only reason for static is cheaper hosting, seems like a big project to be worried about the hosting. I have an unlimited site hosting plan from cenchu(saw them advertise on here, it's wayyyy faster than the namecheap turbo hosting I was using before) for $120 a year. If the goal isn't like hundreds of visitors a day on the sites, but more like a google click here and there(depending on the niche and value of the leads, some niches you just need 20 targeted visitors in a month to get a lead and if a high value niche then it's worth it, other niches/business models you need thousands of visitors to make anything). Otherwise, if you were able to do it with wordpress, for one, I'd be interested how if you have a programming way to automate it, and for 2, if he is spending $1,000+ a year on domains alone, is really the hosting cost that much of a problem? If the goal is a small amount of visitors for specific niche searches, I don't see how that'd be a problem, say cost hypothetically as 1 very large site really.

Really depends on a lot of factors. If we're talking like very local specific domains for lower competition searches, I think it could be worthwhile.

Hahaha of course not. If you have a topic like "How do I build a house" for example, there are already hundreds of pages that have been created with chatgpt and the texts on the pages have a 90% match.

Well yeah of course, that's why no point in doing general topics.

I got articles published just this week that ranked #1 right away for their search terms because there was no existing similar article(also low search vol, maybe the exact query is only searched once per day, but it's a niche with over $200 avg order value, so worth it for me to get them specific long tail clicks).

1) is this site fresh (less than 1 month old), or aged site with lots of authority? These are the only 2 scenarios in which I'm thinking that you can rank #1 right off the bat, if your site is neither fresh, or authoritative it's weird and seems like you're the exception to the rule

2) did you use a professional rank tracker to check the rankings, or did you just type the keyword into your browser? Because if the latter, it's possible that google have served you personalized results (because you're logged into your google account)

True, your articles, pages will get de-indexed over time, the reason is your overall DA is low in comparison to your competition or you have not received any fresh backlinks/DA/social signals, after these latest updates, it has become more continuous effort thing, and yes it might not worth it if you are unwilling to put that kind of effort, but i can assure you that persistent efforts will pay off, it might take long.
If you want quick results then you should go for such niches, for example, i see that Non-English still has far better and quick results, and even better is non-English + Local niche for example "top wedding venues in top cities of france" that will be in french language, such niches can bring you quick results without much competition, but if you want to work on conventional English niches then be ready for a long haul.

What I'm worried about is depending on text generation as the best machine learning use case for untrained model.

It's not the best choice definitely. With ai that isn't trained you can do a lot more in other fields.

Quick results are on social media, not on Google. Google is for people with deeper pockets.

Seo just isn't so cool anymore for starters. You can do e-commerce, info products, sell services, consulting. There's tons of stuff on social media.

Mind perspective of someone who isn't very experienced with Google. It's just a traffic source but people make it seem google serps are the whole world.

Edit:

I speak cause I compared machine learning for text and machine learning for video.

I built products for both.

And I see greater potential in video.

You can also connect vidoe and text but here it start to be extra challenging.

Below is what they achieved

Dealing with 10 sites instead of dealing with 100 sites will produce more effective results.

A well built PBN is usually 500+ sites, so that's a myth what you posted here.
I also have my own PBN network consisting of +1000 sites. If you want to see the details, you can send a PM. but the results focused on a single SERP rather than a PBN structure as stated by our friend.

Static sites are not a good idea for ranking on google, IMO. As you seem a technical person, I guess that a better idea in your case would be to build a template on an MVC framework and then simply duplicate it by using css free templates. For posting new articles you can create a simple script or even a mini-Api. Once the initial sort of cms done, will be extremely useful on future similar projects.
