Hi everyone! I am new to seo and I am starting to promote a medium sized online shop (40 categories, over 30k products). While analysing our link profile I use two services: Semrush and Ahrefs. And the problem is that Semrush shows much more backlinks on our site than Ahrefs. The same situation with the number of referring domains. In the detailed analysis Semrush shows very many backlinks with images. How to be and what to do in such a situation, what service to rely on? Will Semrush be useful in this case, or i shoud rely only on Ahref. I will be very grateful for advice from more experienced colleagues.

Just go with Semrush. The more data, the better. Also Ahrefs treat their customers like shit. Stay away from them.

As mentioned above, the higher number should be correct... SemRush positioned themselves as the best link crawler.
But the rest of their numbers are just random so I'd use ahrefs.

There will always a difference between both. You can use data which have more results or it will be better if you can merge them both. You can use google webmaster tools.

the one that shows more data, of course :)
Some of that 'more data' might just be garbage or outdated data. Sometimes Semrush reports links that are no longer live.
Other times it reports live links as removed.

I would recommend using both tools simultaneously to compensate for each other's limitations. Ahrefs is excellent for backlink analysis and monitoring, helping you identify and analyze high-quality links. Semrush, on the other hand, excels in website auditing, keyword analysis, and competitive intelligence.

all tools have their deficiencies, but personally I prefer more data, even if it's wrong / outdated sometimes (dead links, for example, can help you investigate into what had happened to them to either make them live again or find new opportunities). More data is usually better...

But anyway, it's up to the guy what he wants to use, I only gave him a doze of logic :)

I understand and you do have a point as generally more data would give you more information to work with.

Each tool has its own crawling and indexing methodologies. In your case, focus on consistency and then track trends over time within one tool.

i would say ur checking https vs www and havent set them up properly because thats a mass difference between the two

I don't want to talk about data or SEO but..

Semrush treats its customers as customers whereas Ahrefs treats its customers as ATMs.
Stick with Semrush.
