I just got hit with same "pure spam" on 2 sites. 5-year-old site in the kitchen niche. No AI content, all written by me, updated every now and then, shared on social media, no real backlinking just good clean content, and ranking well for some decent terms. I have no idea what to fix, when I look at what is ranking the type of content is no different than what I have been putting out over the years, just bigger sites (much bigger).
I can deal with being beaten out, but being deindexed for no reason really has me concerned that Google has no clue what to do about the growing mass content issue and they are just going to blinldly wipe out the majority of small publishers.

Wow dude that's crazy, I thought it was just ai content they were going after. What was the volume of your content? I got the same manual penalty and it does not make any sense at all, A few of my competitors were deindexed as well and the sites were not ai content.
I was publishing three times a week up until october. Then I stopped after getting hit on the last update.
No new content has gone up but I have done some other work on the site like updating my schema and working on a better UI. Not that the UI was bad already. I am using the extra theme so it is good. Mostly I was just moving around search boxes and tightening up category stuff.
