Hi.
This thread's main purpose is to hold myself accountable regarding this project. I hope to update this thread at least once a week.
If I don't achieve this I'm a pussy bitch.
Anyone who's (or had been) on a similar journey can come share some ideas or tips.

Objective:

Launching a B2B SaaS and getting to ~$1k MRR.

Why $1k ???

Pretty low, right?
Once I get there, the next step will be scaling up, so a totally different journey.

Why B2B?

Because B2C is a pain in the ass.
If you want to get into B2C you'll need a shit load of marketing resources (ie. money or fame) and the money won't be great (unless you have 1000s of paying customers).
B2B on the other hand requires relatively little marketing effort and the money's great because businesses are ready to pay more if your offer's returned value justifies its price.

What will my SaaS do?

Not sure yet.
Weird?
I have an idea which I'm trying to validate by talking to people in the field, but it's gonna take some time. There are already a few SaaS implementing some of the main features, but I plan to add more on top which would make it more powerful (and therefore premium) but those additional features are what I am trying to validate.
It should deal with a problem within the marketing field.

How do I plan to implement it?

Lean startup? Fuck no, we're talking straight outta siberian gulag startup.
What does this mean?
No unnecessary extravagance. No waste of time or money: Implement the MVP with the least money and/or time.
How?
Money: At first focus on mail/linkedin outreach.
Time: Use of nocode tools wherever I can.
I have no domain or landing page yet. I plan on making them once I talk to few people in the fields to "pre-validate" the idea.

What if I don't validate the idea?

I will try to pivot the SaaS towards another problem or just find a new idea.

Current tasks:

Validate the idea:
1- Talk to potential customers and draw out the product's features
2- Get the first paying customers

Position my offer:

1- Competitor analysis to tune my offer
2- Make my offer a GSO

Current revenue: $0

Recently saw many new SaaS journey. This make me want to start one. Good luck mate.

Best advice I can give for finding an idea, if someone else is doing it, that means there's demand. If no one else is doing it, there probably isn't demand. Find a SaaS offering that you can beat on quality or price and steal a slice of their pie.

Thanks bro. Nowadays with nocode tools almost anyone can launch a SaaS. Tho the more technical knowledge you have the more you can achieve.

Definitely, which is what I'm planning to do.
Good luck with your journey
Thanks.

Congrats on your journey!
You're diving into uncharted waters, and that's where the magic happens. Keep it up.

Mini update
Had a busy week with other stuff.
A bit more research revealed that a particular app already implements the ideas I had ( to differentiate my app from the others and make it more premium).
So 2 conclusions from this:
- The idea is de facto validated since it's already exploited
- I need some other way to differentiate myself / or just pivot to another idea

With regards to differentiation, I don't see myself implementing many features before sales, that's one of the core principle of lean startups: you build one main feature and start selling to test the waters, THEN you build other features on top.
So competing over features number is a lost battle already since those apps been up for a while now. Instead I need to find a set of new features which would make my app complementary or too valuable to leave behind.

However, features are not the only way to differentiate, in this case there is another seemingly easier: target other regions/languages.

Good luck mate! I am also starting some kind of SaaS, but it is more focused on B2C. Will be following!

Even though the idea is exploited, you can start with it and then pivot once you have some customers.
